    So it's new

My only concern is the really bad ioping results and desktop hardware...

  • I'm wondering if P2P/Torrents/ED2K is allowed since it's not mentioned in ToS

I have an "AMD 248 Preconfigured" available to be transferred to another account (Start Date 2016-03-15 ) for $10 (price it has been paid for).

If you are interested PM me.

  • Well, I opened a ticket concerning the really bad iops... because most tests shows 9k+ iops :/

Quick question @AaronW - How do I file abuse reports against your IPs? I am getting regular (almost daily at the moment) port scans from your networks.

You email abuse@ like normal? It is an RFC standard for a reason. Also their AUP does explicitly forbid port scanning even though it isn't, as far as I'm aware, expressly illegal federally. Chances are you'll get a favourable response.

So they told me the disk is fine... what should I do ?

Intel 3700 vs Sandisk Ultra 2 - thats not a good comparison.

Use fio to do some real tests, but don't expect Sandisk to perform as well as your Intel SSD.

@FredQc Still, I would say there's a problem with the disk from looking at your results. Open a ticket and ask for a replacement.

  • There's an AMD 248 available right now...

It's a dedicated server, you can do with it whatever you want as long as it is legal and doesn't cause abuse notices. It's your 20TB of bandwidth.

But, if you do public trackers you'll probably be banned (it's a US server, so DMCA notices are very important). If you do private trackers, in 90% of the cases you'll never receive an abuse notice, so you can keep your dedi for a long time. Even if you get 1-2 notices a month, most providers are going to keep you (as long as the infringing content is removed).

Of course, if you are a big customer, like a VPN provider, they can create a lot of notices, and not get banned since they spend $$$ and do have some mechanisms in place to block public trackers. Can't expect that level of tolerance on a $10 server.

Thank you for so many details :)
Sounds like I could run a tiny p2p daemon then :D

  • If only they would stock the high end stuff. We have started to buy the new OVH 128GB servers, but with a quarter of the CPUs and for 20% more. :(

I was only trying to show how's the Sandisk was bad. I know it's not a fair comparison ;) Intel price is much higher.

Yep, I had a good chat with the support and they finally replaced the SSD with a new Crucial.

Support staff is amazing by the way :)

    Was your $10 box a core2duo?

It's still good. C2Ds only. Its even pasted in the tech's login screen so they all know what the deal is, just in case.

The ticket you sent is not requesting a second drive. It's requesting that the techs swap out your 2.66Ghz C2D with a faster one. That's the request they are refusing. Open a ticket asking for a second 250GB drive and they'll get it for you.

Sorry maybe a misunderstand with them? and why should I lie? It's a cheap box so I don't expect something fancy for the price. :) @AaronW @Xenos

I asked for better CPU because my box came with e6300 (1.86Ghz) and give them a references about a free hdd upgrade in these part:

Yes, I see that now. It's at the very bottom of a lengthy ticket. I'm sure they missed it just like I did the first 5 times I read it.

Again... Please open a new ticket and request the drive. They will put it in for you.

    Also refused to me .
Jon was the guy. I have 3x C2d and he applied it just to one.
I cced you and sent you a PM.

I've also asked for 100mbit unmetered in all my boxes and they said some months ago that was not possible that I should read the Os a man .
Now I got an overage of 2 tb with no previous warning of like you have used 90% and I'm being asked like 40 bucks when that box costs 30 ( and you had managed to do what I requested months ago and now I'm a " victim" of lack of knowledge)

I have 14 boxes with you . I've always paid promptly and did not say anything but good things about your services.

I've tried to approach to you via PM and email and none seems to be working.
