Mine says Vienna too, but traceroute to lets say Alwyzon Looking Glass in Vienna, shows that the VDS is actually in Nuremberg and geolocation data is just not updated yet
This doesnt show as NVMe either..

I know this nice host that can offer you the same deal but nvme
@Hosteroid give this man a special deal
A few plans and locales are still there. RS2000 in MNZ for example.
Are you sure?
To me, it looks like the geolocation databases are wrong on some of my servers.
Here is an example:
The server is in Nuremberg.

IPv4 ping to other servers in Nuremberg is 0.350 ms, and MTR shows 1–2 hops.
My conclusion: Don't trust the GeoIP databases too much. Their data is inaccurate.
Same issue for me, it seems like it's a problem with the GeoIP databases.
Anyway, VPS 2000 ARM G11 iv SE NUE OST25 yabs :
Indeed very good performance

This one is turn-off : External domains 0
At least 3 and this one is great offer
Disc speed is much less than my current RS1000 G9.5 which is below
fio Disk Speed Tests (Mixed R/W 50/50):
Yes, new generation of RS have capped IO.
But that's pretty stable and 4K is higher.
No real impact for most use cases
Latency is the most important metric
Yeah, strange that they don't let us use an external domain, being limited to the included .de sucks.
Edit: it's possible to add external domains but there is a one time fee (5 EUR / domain).
Does anyone know the way to bulk check available domains to register? I would like to register one for selfhosting stuff, either .de or .eu, but it's a pain to check one by one.
just do it
even I just type them manually to check
Some registrars have bulk check facilities, like namecheap. Looks like they support both .de and .eu lookup, so maybe try there. Namecheap calls it Beast mode.
yabs for VPS 2000 G11 iv SE NUE OST25 (not performing as good as their Root Servers!)
So that means, indexing can be slow compared to the old one right? I was planning to use netcup as search engine cluster. But this seems not good.
I don't think so. Latency of the disk and 4k read / write speed are generally the metric that make the difference.
And these values are likely to be better with the new generation.
And it's not even certain that you'll notice anything, because indexes are probably loaded into the ram once anyway...
Hard to say without benchmarking.
Practice > theory
Elastic search index on disc.
RS 8000
RS 4000
Yes and no. There are many datastructures in ram for faster searchs.
Like any other database
hetzner cpx51 AMD
Wow
I'm not sure is this some shady stuff from namecheap. I checked a domain, netcup says unavailable, dynadot says available, but wants €3384.85 for being premium lol. Meanwhile namecheap shows available too, and around €5, all the way until checkout, then it says someone else grabbed it meantime. When I check again, it says it's available...
Likely a bug on their side. You can use the command whois (in a terminal/shell) to check if a domain is available or not.
If you're in doubt, type on your VPS:
whois example.com
edit
@pbx beat me to it.
Recently, I came across
imso.com
, which seems impossible to register or whois. It was probably reserved not long ago.
