Seems very meh this time around.
I'll be pleasantly surprised if the servers on offer are any good (Beyond the usual Extra storage they run basically every month).

    • Sunday, April 20th: Domains with up to 74% discount
    • Monday, April 21st: VPS – More power at the same price (VPS x86 or ARM, additional SSD and / or extra cores).
    • Tuesday, April 22nd: Web hosting tariffs with up to 50% discount
    • Wednesday, April 23rd: VPS – More Specs at unbeatable prices (Special editions with additional SSD memory and / or more cores - We'll see )
    • Thursday, April 24th: Root server – More Specs, top prices (additional SSD and / or more cores)
    • Friday, April 25th: Easter finale – All highlights at a glance!

Payment is still yearly at checkout. Also, any idea if they offer Whois privacy ?

No clue, I haven't used any of their serviced yet.

    I'm considering on order - https://www.netcup.com/en/server/root-server/rs-1000-g11-iv-se-fe-ost25

But I'm scared of it not being utilized.

They promise may be more cores but yet to see that in reality.

Those cores gains are often also less useful.

    • ARM G11: The difference between the 6 Core and 18 Core VPS tends to be around 2x the base configuration. That is it.
    • RS G11 : 4 Core to 24 Cores is around 3x the base configuration.

In general, both tend to peak in performance around the second or third VPS package.

    • RS 1000 G11 > RS 4000 G11.
    • VPS 1000 ARM G11 > VPS 3000 ARM G11.

Mostly because the servers are overbooked, and have a very narrow leftover capacity. The moment you really push those cores, everybody else hinders.

And yes, the RS are faster ( mostly because its AMD Zen4 cores from 2023, vs ARM cores from 2019). There seem to be less overbooking but still suffer from this same issue, even with dedicated cores. Because the more active clients, max frequency is pushed to base frequency, cache and memory is taxed more etc.

The longer those servers are in usage, the more clients are pushed on them, and the worst the performance gets. So those initial benchmarks when a new generation comes out, are always misleading as people tend to be on empty servers.

Hetzner their ARM VPS are much more stable as they do not overbook them to the same extend, and Hetzner does active throttling on abuse (> 80% gets you downclocked performance). On the other hand, their Dedicated VPS are extreme expensive but because you are actually getting way less overbooking, and have more stable permanent performance.

But if you want tasks to perform good, get a dedicated servers like the Hetzner AX42, what ironically costs less, then Netcup their VPS, if you take in account the whole 20% extra payment for 1 month termination contracts, and lower costs for locations.

Learned my lesson the hard way with Netcup.

Netcup is more if you really want a lot of storage space / memory.

So the primary difference between Hetzner, Netcup, and other providers is overbooking. Are you aware of any providers that are honest about their fleet capacity? While I understand that selling more is necessary, I hope there exists a provider that maintains a profitable business by taking only a reasonable margin.

At least it’s monthly, and can use the 5 euro code from the OP for the first month.

Some people do that, I noticed the monthly pricing for .com as well. Multiplied with 12 (12 months), it would match the annual pricing.

Yeah, whatever. Paid $2 extra and got my domain from Regery instead, and they have free Whois privacy too for that particular TLD.
