You can expect 300is GB5 multicore score on the AMD one where's ARM one gets around 3300. Network is 480Mbps vs 4Gbps

It will be like 10 times less. Are you even serious asking. It is limited to 1/8 of a CPU core, REALLY slow, worse than an Atom. Grab the ARM if at all possible in your specific DC.

I have one I took a while ago, if this helps:

Just setup public NTP server and set the limit on manage.ntppool.org so you can utilize your idle bandwidth and CPU. I think that is a win-win solution.

Nothing gets deleted, just powered off.

  • Two things I learned this week about Oracle Free Cloud:

    1) The only way to raise a technical service request with them for the free tier is over the phone. You can't do it in the support portal because it won't let you since you don't have a paid product (and free tier isn't considered one -- even if you select 'OCI Compute' from the menu).

    2) You cannot have Port 25 opened on the free tier. From the horse's mouth:

    From Oracle Doc ID 2860364.1:
"NOTE: This service is only applicable for a paid account, and not for a free tier account."

Oh well... I'll have to set up my mail server elsewhere.

Port 25 is open for me on free tier since I registered early :)

    From https://docs.oracle.com/en-us/iaas/releasenotes/changes/f7e95770-9844-43db-916c-6ccbaf2cfe24/

Tenancies made after June 23, 2021 are by default not allowed to send e-mail via outbound TCP port 25 to the internet. Tenancies made prior to June 23, 2021 are unaffected. If you require the ability to send email from your tenancy, open a service limits request to request an exemption.

I had considered that. I'm opting to just pay for some service elsewhere... If there are any vendors reading this, please hit me up. I just need a VPS on which I'll set up a mail server with some very light use.

If you need mail server very light use, I think it's better to choose mail service provider like mxroute?
