All my instances in Tokyo are down, and when I try to login to the dashboard it says the credential is incorrect, resetting still result in incorrect credential. Anyone encountering this?

Have you contact the support team?

My instances in Frankfurt also down this morning.
I go chat the support team and

your account has been terminated, and we are unable to provide additional information or reactivate it.

That's it. 5 years of free VPS.

Ouch! That was very unprofessional of them. But having dealt with support here in Brazil, I am not surprised either.

I have a prepaid account with 4 free tier instances and an additional 50GB drive, just so I can think of something I'm paying for (~$2 per month). Their billing system has been declining all my credit cards for about 6 months now. I've had to resort to paying by bank transfer and sending the receipt by email. No attempt to verify/fix why their billing system isn't working.

I bet any day now I'll wake up to the monitoring system telling me that these servers have stopped responding. I've already moved everything important to other VPSs.

I just did, and yeah, turns out they also terminated my account. I guess they don't think I deserve even a bye email.

Is there anything due to content you hosted or simply because of free one, what will happen if we add up additional storage, VPU for I/O boost, keep monthly payment 2-3 USD ? Sorry, sad to see your account go.

  • @gks said: simply because of free one

Likely this. There has been no changes on what I'm hosting for about a year now, so it seems they just run a sweep to find what accounts they think unprofitable.

Was your account on the free tier, or were you on a paid tier but using the always-free instances?

  • wtf what does it mean all canceled

Same here, I was in their free tier only but many in who upgraded to Paid tier (and keep only e the free tier running) doesn't have any issue.

Paid tier could be as low as possible, like 2-5 USD would be fine to retain account? I just wanted add up 50 GB volume, VMU for free tier volumes. I like Oracle free one, their DC is near my city

    It was free tier.

I think so, since the others who reported still running was OK with even $0 invoices due keeping the account in the free tier limits.
If you are going to create a new account and upgrade it let me know if that worked.

  • I am on the free tier, and mine is still working fine so far.

They did introduce a no-idle policy some time ago - maybe they are enforcing that now?

Max use policy fine with them?

    Yabs 24*7?

I have use case to run data stream analytics, I could use them 24/7.

  • I'd basically forgotten about my instances, but they're still running fine. I read about the usage requirement, so I hacked up a quick script 2 years ago and haven't looked at it since!

To make sure the load stays approximately at 50%, I have a background task that continually re-creates into an unused DB a copy of my initial database by doing some processing on a whole load of text. It takes roughly 30 second to complete, so I have cron run it once per minute and my average CPU use sits quite happily around 50%.

I always meant to switch up the VMs and add another core to push me out of the free limits into paid, but I've never had sufficient load to justify it!

I think officially you cannot prepay OCI services (keep your account in credit) , is there any workaround or somehow pay in advance a sum?

I wouldn't mind giving them some money (instead of leeching on the free tier) but a while back my card was stolen and I got a new one just in time before the charge would go through.
I have a small concern that if this happens again and the payment fails I'll get locked out of the account (and it's nearly impossible to get a new one). Also, they're quite picky with the credit cards so there's also a chance that the new card may get declined for some weird random reason.

I take it it's not possible?

  • I am paying like 0.5 usd per month and everything works like a swiss watch for a few years now.

  • unfortunately not all the country's supported.

Does anyone know if BGP announcement (bring your own IP) is working on the free tier plan ?

  • Looks like there's a kernel bug in 6.8.0-1022-oracle which breaks (some) ip6tables rules (someone reported tailscale, for me it broke k3s).

Can anyone login on https://www.oracle.com/cloud/sign-in.html ?

The page is mostly broken for me, login doesn't complete with arcane error messages, and the password recovery link leads to ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED.

    Larry wake up.

No clue, maybe it's a regional issue.

Could be. Had one instance deleted by them. Spun a new one (non idler) and it's been working ever since.

Just FYI I just used the Debi script (just default) to convert an Oracle 9 AMD VM.Standard.E2.1.Micro instance to Debian 12 and it worked beautifully no issues. Oracle 9 couldn't even successfully run yum with the 1G ram on this shape (as expected of course).
