Do you have a BL460C? If so, looks like you may need to enable write cache on the raid card. MarkTurner said the default OS installs enable that now, but maybe when your HDD was replaced the setting is not there anymore?

Assuming you've not just had bad luck getting 2 dead drives, seems like there could be an issue with the controller, either a hardware fault or misconfiguration.

    # dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync
    16384+0 records in
    16384+0 records out
    1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 11.1392 s, 96.4 MB/s

Is what I'm getting (with write cache enabled, 50 to 60 MB/s without).

  • @lostsoul

if BL460C, you can use iLO console to reboot the server and then check the settings of raid card :)

  • @lostsoul just open a ticket and ask someone to enable the write cache on the controller. When the disk was replaced, they obviously didn't rerun the server initialiser which sets up all these things.

  • yea sent one ticket @ 12/21/2013 00:48

  • @lostsoul I checked up on your ticket and it was solved. Array cache was not enabled.

  • @hotsnow but the RAID management tool you can get to during reboot is pretty useless. You need to use ACU for Windows or ACUCLI for Linux.

  • Got it all sorted out

    # dd if=/dev/zero of=iotest bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync
    16384+0 records in
    16384+0 records out
    1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 11.1046 seconds, 96.7 MB/s

thanks for the useful information, I know the HP ACU tools :)

  • @hotsnow - they are your friends on HP Smart Arrays, the ROM based tools are hopeless.

I've ordered a BL460C last Sunday and received it on Wednesday. For the price I'm happy about the machine and the network, taking into account that I'm in Europe and thus not in the ideal location.

On the "less happy" front I have to echo the previous commenter who had delays in setting up RDNS: I've opened a ticket on Friday the 20th, even if you factor in the weekend it seems like a lot of time.

Other providers have fully automated setting up RDNS in their control panel, if Delimiter could do this it would be a time saver for customers (and hopefully for their techs as well).

I ordered at last Friday, I wonder if can get it before this Christmas on wednesday ...

  • @quicksilver03 for some subnets they can do this on the fly, I bet you're on one of the new subnets where RDNS has not been properly delegated to them yet. It will be solved don't worry.

@hotsnow - I think they'll clear all backorders before Christmas.

  • @MarkTurner I love the BL460C. It's a beast for personal use and the service desk also quite responsive as long as we clearly explain the problem.

I wonder, do you still have the USD5 Atom in stock? Will the promo last until after new year's eve?

I also hope so, now it's already tuesday, the last day before christmas...

  • @vRozenSch00n, You are making me buy one :)

  • darknessends said: @vRozenSch00n, You are making me buy one :)

Well It's good for the price, especially if you need to compile and test things. :P

  • @vrozensh00n - I think there are a few Atoms left. All of the current offers expire on 31st December or when stock runs out which ever happens first.

@darknessends - Good, so when are you going to get one :)

Would you care to share available stock as of today for the previously offered servers?

  • Our (Yomura) stock is different from Delimiter's stock. Delimiter only committed to a few hundred of each server. I would guess they probably have about 20-30 Atoms, 40-50 BL460 X5150 and 10-15 DL145's left in their inventory.

Ahh Thanks for the info, Mark.

  • Just ordered one of the atoms, hope to not be disappointed.

  • @MarkTurner

Finally got mine BL460C, thank all you guys, and Merry Christmas to you, lol

  • @hotsnow - Great news!

What I can say is their support is not satisfactory. I wanted to add additional ips and opened a support ticket on 20th(it's been 5 days), still not answered. This is not the first time tickets went unanswered.

  • @SriKolla

I sent an email to [email protected] to order additional IP's, in case you have not tried that yet.

Got it two or so hours ago. Here is some test stuff privatepaste.com/1915c67316

    Not bad for 10 USD.

  • @Srikolla open a billing ticket or just mail [email protected]. The support staff will just have reassigned it to billing anyway because they can't invoice you or order a service.

  • @setsura - when you did you actually order and receive it? Was it within hours of each other?

Pretty much when I made my first comment. 10AM EST today, got it around 3PM EST today.
