    I ordered 250GB big plate chicken.
    Server was delivered 4 hours after completing payment.
    link to YABS

    VNC is only accessible on webpage, no credentials for gvncclient.
    It's more secure this way, but slower.
    Reboot/shutdown seems to take more than a minute.
    Ubuntu ISO won't boot (kernel panic, no usable init), but Debian ISO works.

    I made two partitions 20GB system and remaining data, formatted as XFS.
    When I upload files containing Unicode names, it's all garbled.
    I thought it's filesystem issue so I reinstalled with disks formatted as BTRFS, but same problem arises.
    Then I figured out that I need to dpkg-reconfigure locales and select en_US.UTF-8; I guess it'll work in XFS also.

    NOVOS BRICK, supposedly discontinued 2 weeks ago, is still online.
    I pulled down 100GB of files using Rclone, and it took 4 hours.
    (if NOVOS BRICK is gone, it would take longer to upload from USB drive)
    CPU usage during the transfer was 16% and it didn't ruffle any feathers.

    Nice deals! What’s the CPU in the NVMe plans?

  • Using HH storage server, I rarely got high cpu load because of IO Wait

    Mostly E5-2680v2 or sometimes E5-2690v2.

    Not really. It's still possible to use a VNC client but is a little involved

    Steps below:

    1. Login to HostHatch client portal and start the web VNC console normally.
    2. With the web VNC console running, right click on the page -> view page source
    3. The credentials for VNC are located in the web page source, towards the end.
    <div class="card">
      <div class="card-content" style="padding-bottom: 20px;">
        <vnc
          path="https://manage.hosthatch.com/themes/default/vendor/js/novnc"
          host="vps.hosthatch.com"
          port="7706"
          password="XXXXXXXXXXXX"
          token="YYYYYYYYYY">
        </vnc>
      </div>
    </div>

    1. Download & run websocat. Replace with the token from above.
    ./websocat --binary tcp-listen:127.0.0.1:5900 "wss://vps.hosthatch.com:7706/?token=YYYYYYYYYY" -H="Sec-WebSocket-Protocol:binary, base64"

    1. Use your favourite VNC client and connect to 127.0.0.1:5900. Use the password from Step 3.

    2. Done!

    Read,

    Setup time for these plans is 3 working days after the order/payment has been completed.
