URPad sold?

Not least because the buyer may have other rules in place, including privacy, perhaps.
When URPad bought VMPort and some others, didn't they migrate customers locations and even force some VMWare/KVM/Xen customers onto OVZ?
Would be interested under what act or law this is.
I don't really get your point... When a company changes owner, the data changes "owner" or "manager" (for the lack of a better word). If the new owner is not a US-based entity, but (for example) a Chinese one, I'd like to know. When a new employee is hired, well, not much changes.
Correct, though this was never mentioned before hand.
Ewww migrating KVM to OVZ... that should be a jail able offence!
hmm... the yearly paid customers are to worry most i suppose..
+1 Don't get @AnthonySmith started on this one.
My point. Legally, they don't have to tell you anything.
The data is owned by you. Head back to the internet law school.
I like it actually, and I do have a VPS with CVPS, I think it's great entertainment, lol :P
LowEndDrama ftw
insert popcorn gif here
I'm stating my opinion, not giving legal advice. It's just what I think they should do. I'm sorry if that wasn't clear before. Like I said, the manager of the data changes, which is relevant to me.
slightly off the Urpad topic but on the topic of what happens to customer data when x event happens, what happened to the customer data when RaxWeb deadpooled -was it saved, destroyed, or sold?
Really it's not a big deal until the purchaser tries to modify your prices and such then if you've paid yearly you have a right to a refund, monthly customers will just pack up and go.
People wont stop shopping at their grocer if someone else bought it until service levels drop or prices rise. If everything stays as is, people generally dont care. Though in the LEB world people do get attached to their host and the service they receive so I can understand how people feel when suddenly the guy running the place is not the guy running the place. That would suck.
Sigh we went from comparing who has more RAM to arguing over whether company X was sold.
If you are saying most people here are acting like they're running a grocery store and selling tomatoes, I couldn't agree more.
@FRCorey if EIG bought urpad would people still buy the product? that are from this forum? Probably not.
Deadpooled would be the wrong word here. I'm going into service in under 2 months so I migrated the VPS clients off to another host and the remainder was acquired by a couple of other guys. Haven't heard from them however I've been in contact with some old clients who I've managed to send backups from when I had access and refunds.
Happy?
EIG EIG EIG!
Yes, Patrick. I will fix it.
Sure, BUT !
The data handler changes and they might have a different privacy policy, they might sell it to third parties, change ToS (or actually not change it, keep it like it was for their customers and shoveit (TM) through your throat if you wish to have service for the reminder of the paid time.
My data is fake anyway, so I dont care much, but I was speaking in general, on why it matters who is controlling the personal data.
Compare situations, your bank has your data, but if the bank decides to sell it to a third party after it was aquired by another bank because the other bank has these rules, would you wish to be called by online casinos or pimps or would like to know so you can close account in time ?
That doesn't matter if the ownership changes from a place with strong privacy laws (e.g. the EU) to one with very weak laws (e.g. the US). The customer has a right to be notified of such changes.
Yes, I did found and start URPad. During the 8 months that I had URPad, my Military duties started to affect the amount of time that I spent on URPad. As a result, URPad started to suffer. I did not want that to happen. I had no choose but to step down and pass the company along. I was in contact with Chris and he agreed to take it on. There was no NDA signed between FTN or myself during the sale that stated that I was or was not allowed to come back. I however stayed away from the hosting community for the better part of 2 years.
@XFS_Brian, still in the military?
huh, isn't it dated July 2012?
any words from @MannDude?
Active with the Military? No. Due to an injury that I received while I was deployed to Iraq, I am being medically discharged. I have all the time in the world to be spent on the new company that my business partner and I have started.
@XFS_Brian Well I hope XFuse is doing well and appreciate your time in service!
Thanks for the kind words jarland. XFuse is doing very well.
I, personally, would like the sale of URPad is true.
Still no words from FTN guys here?
@jcaleb, kabayan! do you have vps with urpad?
Pare, I have two. 1GB OVZ SSD (prize from LET/LEB contest), 1GB OVZ normal disk 21$/yr promo. Why?
