Stick with the dispute. That is the only way @AshleyUK seems to be responding.
I have some responses from Ashley but he does need poking a few times to get an answer.
From what I've been told non-LET offer services are fine if they're back up, and Plex stuff should be fine too.
Been assured my VM will still be running after the 20th though.
9 days before shutdown of LET offer .
.
Where i should migrate i have 96 euro to spend for it
UltraVPS have posted some offers this morning, including storage
i have vps there for one year. early to 3 months no problem.
problems arise and until recently I did not use them
Ordered something on 10/01/2018 and even opened a ticket with no reply... is the business dead?
Not dead, I've had replies from Ashley - although it takes some poking to get a reply.
How did you order, their main site is down? I believe they're redoing all their plans at the minute with new prices?
ordered via the billing site, Guess I'll open a dispute via PayPal, shame really.
Pester the ticket and he should reply. If still nothing then dispute.
I imagine once ticket is seen they'd sort you out on the newest equivilant service.
Why would you order when their main site and new orders are disabled? Lol.
Human nature. When told not to do, they wanna do it more. When something is disabled, they find a loophole to enable it.
The real question is, why would anyone do business with this company ever again?
Probably the same reason why snipped is gaining customers from so much bad PR. And that some people lack the capacity to learn from repeated mistakes.
I've been following it for a while, and their main site has never worked from what I can see lol
I agreed to take an alternative to the hetzner hosting which is ending but then radio silence for a week.
I also made arrangements for an alternative more sustainable service.
Waiting for provisioning - last message from Ashley was a week ago (7/1)
Response times before that was ok - so looked to be moving back towards more nomal conditions communication wise.
Keeping ticket open ..
Let's hope its just a case of the flu or something ...
@elofty @svmo can you post any details about the more sustainable service?
In my case:
Not a special offer - but taken from Ashley's non CEPH - zxplay - services at his regular rates.
Figured I might rather have a service running than a refund if there was available capacity, and wanted the extra cpu in the zxplay plans. - Also supposedly should be back at 23media.
My new VPS is part of the non-CEPH ones (it was CEPH). Not sure what datacenter it's in as traceroute suggests still in 23media but Ashley said their new options are in Hetzner I believe.
It works a damn site better than the CEPH VPS ever did. 50/50 as the whether he responds to tickets first time though, which I think he should work on, but hey ho.
I opened one the other day as it was down and responded in 5 mins saying meltdown patching was taking place, but my last one took a few replies before he answered
Out of curiosity:
What's the CPU ? - Do you know the node specs ?
23media seems to be more "enterprise grade" hardware (ECC - hot swappable drives etc )
Actually the VM set up on a Hetzner SX61 is also quite snappy - 6TB disks in raid as local storage are quite fast - and only 12 vms to a node - Would be quite satisfied to continue service on one of them at a realistic price point. - But seems from his mail that they are going.
Yeah .. got a fairly quick response when I reopened auto closed ticket 7/1 ... but nothing since then. - Will just keep it open not to swamp the ticket system.
According to /proc/cpuinfo:
model name : Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2620 v3 @ 2.40GHz
I couldn't find anything at Hetzner that matched that (unless it was an auction server), that and the traceroute results made me suspect back at 23media. Either way it's faster and disk IO is better.
Yeah I just keep reopening tickets if needs be.
2 weeks now with no reply
I'm back at 23Media with the same cpu as @Mr_Tom. I was given options for either hetzner or 23 but 23 was slightly faster when testing routes.
I wasn't given the choice and Ashley said only some of the pre-CEPH clients were left at 23media. The new VPS offerings aren't at Hetzner I believe, which would work better for if in different datacenters.
Have you updated the ticket/asked a few times? or left it open?
It keeps auto closing. I have to keep opening it again.
I have had luck just reopening before, or try emailing direct.
Other than the CEPH incident, providing you don't need to contact him it works well lol.
Does any one already get refund ?
I wonder how @AshleyUK expects to make some money by selling services without even having a website online...
Looks like the guy finally left for some tropical island with our money.
(Or has killed himself out of shame and despair, who knows. No sign of life.)
I like that all of you who paid peanuts months/years ago thinks he didn't already go broke trying to setup alternative options when his entire infrastructure shit itself.
