    @unixguru Your signature seems outdated, it says 2GBP/mo whereas the page it links to says 3GBP/mo.

  • It says from, which works out correct if you sign up for an extended period. However I'll probably change the signature if it causes confusion.

    I genuinely hate the term cloud ;)

    It's overused and often incorrectly used, I agree.
    Everything appears to a "cloud" now - heard one consultant talking about a fax-2-email service as a "document-cloud" on Tuesday !

    Fair enough, but you should remember that we use Lowendboxes for a reason
    £20 for 256mb ram is a lot for us!

    That's why we have Virtual Private Servers (shared resources) and Virtual Dedicated Servers (dedicated resources) and Cloud Servers (scalable, auto-healing, very redundant) offerings - not everyone needs all the benefits/features/options of every setup - what any client needs (and wants to pay for) in terms of level of performance, reliability, separation etc varies quite considerably.

    @liam at least it is not a "Green Cloud" ;-)

    Mostly black with a little beige and various coloured blinking lights - might have some green shielded cat6 cables though, but even they're mainly orange or grey ;)

    The DC mains is all from 100% renewables, but the generators are still diesel - offsets for the annual test usage and any real runtime are in place though - so "environmentally responsible" if not Green.

    informations about the ongoing migration activities on the UKcloud infrastructure
    are really useful;

    We'll be adding some details to the status blog and letting any affected clients know about upcoming changes to their setups as soon as they are finalised - not thought about announcing the adds of new kit - will consider it, thanks.

    We have to start planning the ipv6 renumbering for several people in there as well, as dual-stacking is available on every product we do, but the Manchester systems are on a range we dont control at present
