  • playing around with the V10G, I dont think this is of any good to me,

    using it as a dedicated torrent grabber to a dedicated server with sonarr and radarr already running on it, and using a FTPS mount to transfer the data to the dedicated server

    public tracker leeching via VPN sucks on the dedicated server.

    since qbittorrent is behind double authentication it does not allow external resources to connect to it.

    guess I will stick with ultra

    You can probably bypass the double auth, just access your lighttpd directly. If i recall right it's configured so redirect.
    Other than self configure qbittorrent but that will occasionally get overwritten :/

    Peculiar setup you got there.

    Regardless, if you figure out how that setup could work we are interested on adding support to it.

    You could also setup ssh port forwarding too and it would solve that aswell

    I will look in to that setting shortly and see how I go

    ok editing .lighttp.conf and changing the auth settings seemed to work, thanks

    $HTTP["url"] !~ "^/user-XXXXX/qbittorrent/" {
      auth.require = (
       "/user-XXXXX/" =>
          (
              "method" => "basic",
              "realm" => "Password protected area",
              "require" => "user=XXXXX"
          )
      )
    }

  • I try to purchase the V10G XS until the checkout page.
    My Bitdefender Internet Security block the checkout page and show

     "An attempt to send your password unencrypted was about to occur on pulsedmedia.com. We blocked the connection to stop your private data from being exposed and tampered with."

    Is it safe to add pulsedmedia.com to security exception in Bitdefender?

    Use the .lighttpd/custom file for custom configs btw, that .lighttpd.conf gets overwritten.
    Now if i could recall if i fixed that it's not a shell script being executed tho :D Let us know if that needs fixing, will do as others will benefit even tho this is very niche use case

    You are first one with that, you use you are on https? should autoredirect tho.

    Also compare IP you get for pulsedmedia.com to a 3rd party service like https://whatismyipaddress.com/hostname-ip (first result, not affiliated, unknown site!)

    Open ticket or let us know the server name and i will launch updates on it. then you can enable it from welcome page

    Or Maybe because I used Bitdefender VPN service too ?
    I will try to turn off Bitdefender VPN service then purchase its again.

    yes, it autoredirected
    but can you also make seedbox autoredirect? don't know will cause what problem, but seems safer

    nope does not work :(

    can only have one auth statement, so having the include either above or below the original auth statement overwrite anything in the custom file as the custom is trying to exclude the qbittorrent path but the original auth is including it.

    $HTTP["url"] =~ "^/user-XXXX/qbittorrent/" {
      auth.require = ()
    }

    above is the working config for it, at least I worked that out.

    replied, server updating. That is one heck of a busy server for 4 drive 1Gbps server at that nearly 90TB/Mo pace right now.

    Will happen soonish if Let's Encrypt / Certbot doesn't s**** itself again for a while. Too many problems with Certbot to even now call https stable, just today last time had to do some shenanigans manually on a server to get certbot running sigh.

    I wonder if that's safe to do by standard.

    For now you could have on custom config completely separate path for qbittorrent. either /user-XXXX/ leading so you can use the main nginx reverse proxying OR just /qbittorrent and access directly lighttpd (which is kinda prone to have port changed eventually tbh !)

  • @PulsedMedia said: I wonder if that's safe to do by standard.

    it is only as safe as the person setting the password in qbittorrent, since it is a opt-in based install, you can bake in a random password/users password using echo -n 'PASSWORD' | md5sum | mawk '{print $1} to generate the a MD5 hash of the password and set it in WebUI\Password_ha1=@ByteArray(HASH) inside the users .config/qBittorrent/qBittorrent.conf

    Thanks! I tried to find how qBittorrent sets password when setting up the integration initially, but could not easily find it! :)
    That way it can be set to the same password and made globally directly reachable.

    Surprising to see md5 being still used.

    WebUI\Username=XXXXX to change default username from admin also.

    rather than a cookie you can upgrade my slot to a M10G :) (j/k)

    Wow! Thanks! :)
    I will be very keen to hear your comparisons once you have settled in, pros and cons. Where we could do better, and where they did better.

  • @PulsedMedia said: and where they did better.

    hard one to say, I chose them originally due to the unmetered SFTP/FTP/FTPS transfers not being counted towards their bandwidth limits, I cannot find any hard information about yours it is a little confusing reading in your support articles, not that I was able to connect via FTPS so far and just using standard FTP

    plus I have only been with then for about 2 months so far due to the reasons above regarding VPN and public trackers.

  • @PulsedMedia said: Wow! Thanks!

    am I able to upgrade the existing V10G XS to a S or will I need to order a new one?

    Easiest if new one, and ask previous one (if just ordered) as refund to credit
