We have just patched a nasty bug in CEPH causing bad IO.
The storage performance has increased accordingly:

fio Disk Speed Tests (Mixed R/W 50/50) (Partition /dev/sda2):

Block Size 4k (IOPS) 64k (IOPS)
    Read 46.73 MB/s (11.6k) 647.97 MB/s (10.1k)
    Write 46.79 MB/s (11.6k) 651.38 MB/s (10.1k)
    Total 93.52 MB/s (23.3k) 1.29 GB/s (20.3k)
Block Size 512k (IOPS) 1m (IOPS)
    ------ --- ---- ---- ----
    Read 1.37 GB/s (2.6k) 1.25 GB/s (1.2k)
    Write 1.44 GB/s (2.8k) 1.33 GB/s (1.3k)
    Total 2.82 GB/s (5.5k) 2.58 GB/s (2.5k)
    Thanked by 2bench bark

Yes exactly, would be still interesting though to optimize on other parts like for example disable logging to a certain point or decreasing min size on the EC Pool for lower amount of ACKs to wait for. But for now we are very pleased to see that much of an improvement.

and here in already translated through translator:

    Optimization of the infrastructure

Prepaid-Host and ProHosting24 have significantly improved their infrastructure by merging their NVMe Ceph clusters. This change aims to achieve more efficient use of resources and increased performance of the entire platform. This step is critical to providing our customers with improved stability and reliability.

State-of-the-art HCI environment and resource utilization

Our infrastructure is based on a hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI), which is designed to be both resource and cost efficient. We operate a comprehensive HCI environment with a total of 1424 AMD EPYC cores and 20.3 TiB RAM. These powerful compute capabilities are critical to efficiently handle a wide range of tasks and optimize operational costs.

Ceph cluster: A few key facts

An interesting aspect of our Ceph infrastructure is the intensive use of resources. On average, 220 AMD EPYC cores are fully utilized and around 440 GB of RAM is used. These capacities are required to ensure replication and throughput for the clients in our environment. These figures demonstrate the performance and capacity of our infrastructure, which helps to reliably meet our customers' needs.

    Robust and future-proof infrastructure

The Ceph transition includes a modern hardware configuration with 24 AMD Epyc nodes and 44 OSDs, providing full flash NVMe capacity of 216 TB. Supported by a 100GbE backbone network, this infrastructure offers high data processing performance and excellent reliability. During the recovery processes, we achieve impressive backfilling rates of up to 20 GB/s, ensuring fast data recovery and minimal downtime.

    Adapting to market changes

In view of the dynamic and often unpredictable market developments, we have specifically adapted our infrastructure strategies. By merging the clusters, we have achieved optimized resource utilization and increased performance. These measures enable us to respond more efficiently to changes in the market and improve the stability and reliability of our services.

PH24: The future of the platform

In parallel with the Ceph transition, we are developing the new PH24 label, which will serve as a platform for specialized services and advanced technologies. PH24 will allow us to expand our offerings and provide tailored solutions that meet the specific needs of our customers. This new brand is a key part of our strategy to meet the growing demands of the market.

    Conclusion

The Ceph conversion at Prepaid Host and ProHosting24 is an important step towards optimizing our infrastructure. With intensive resource usage, such as fully utilizing 220 AMD EPYC cores and consuming 440 GB of RAM, we ensure that replication and client throughput are handled efficiently. With the development of PH24, we are ready to offer our customers specialized and powerful services in the future.

Like 2-3 years ago Ive had a sale server with them. Afaik it was really stable considering the specs / price. Well I didnt really use its power tho, just for some small stuff. What I can say though is - the maincubes datacenter (where they host their servers) is a top, premium datacenter in Frankfurt. So theres that.

And so is our infrastructure; we are currently working on an openstack and kubernetes as a service platform starting with 2 locations in frankfurt.

Staging looks fine so far; the focus will probably shift a little bit to offering cloud services. But for now we will continue to shine by providing premium virtualization services for people on a budget once or twice a year!

We also do support planting trees since some months at least at a low scale:

I was surprised to see that I was only LET member who voted ProHosting 24 among top three VPS vendors.

Next year, I am hoping you will get far more votes.

Thank you for “best value performance wise” vps.

That is my post (Feb 2024)

Our cluster will be expanded too next week with a bunch of 9554 and 7443 Epyc hosts.
We will be releasing a new deal of up to ~1000 VMs for sale next week.

Thanks to all the loyal customers we've had the pleasure of getting to know here on LET.

    @ProHosting24
Can my VPS be moved to 9554 EPYC node?
