    We have just patched a nasty bug in CEPH causing bad IO.
    The storage performance has increased accordingly:

    fio Disk Speed Tests (Mixed R/W 50/50) (Partition /dev/sda2):

    Block Size 4k (IOPS) 64k (IOPS)
    Read 46.73 MB/s (11.6k) 647.97 MB/s (10.1k)
    Write 46.79 MB/s (11.6k) 651.38 MB/s (10.1k)
    Total 93.52 MB/s (23.3k) 1.29 GB/s (20.3k)
    Block Size 512k (IOPS) 1m (IOPS)
    ------ --- ---- ---- ----
    Read 1.37 GB/s (2.6k) 1.25 GB/s (1.2k)

    Yes exactly, would be still interesting though to optimize on other parts like for example disable logging to a certain point or decreasing min size on the EC Pool for lower amount of ACKs to wait for. But for now we are very pleased to see that much of an improvement.
