Hetzner - Traffic Use Notice - unlimited != unlimited
My friend got this:
We’re writing to you today because of your traffic use, which currently averages above 250 TB/month on some of your servers. Although these servers include unlimited traffic, this is far above what we consider fair use. In order to continue hosting your servers with us, the traffic use will need to be drastically reduced. Please check your servers and confirm what is using so much traffic, making sure it is nothing abusive, and then find ways of reducing it. We will routinely check your traffic use. If we continue to see such a high amount, we may choose to cancel your contract. (Please see 2.7 of our Terms and conditions: https://www.hetzner.com/legal/terms-and-conditions) Thank you for your understanding.

they should actually indicate a limit since they guarantee 1gbps and mention that traffic is free and unlimited on their sales site
Fair use unlimited != dedicated unlimited
OTOH sustained 750Mbps 24x7 is "quite a lot"

I truly hate when companies use misleading terms that do not match reality, and I am a HUGE fan of Hetzner's

So, nothing changed at Hetzner, it was just marketing bla.
They called it before "Fair Use" when I recall it correctly and suspended servers and accounts before when people went over certain limits.
The limit is just higher.
Probably for the same reason that buffets advertise "all you can eat" but don't expect you to eat the entire contents of the restaurant.
Unlimited Will Be Limited
Nothing is actually unlimited, it's a marketing gimmick. There's always fine print involved.

This is one of those things, that if I had the time and money, I would attempt to eventually bring to court.
They say the traffic is unlimited. Period. Nothing in their ToS section 2.7 indicates that there is a fair use limit. The only thing they can use is that it affects other customers, but their servers are advertised as a dedicated link so others shouldn't be affected. I doubt they could argue that a server using 1 gbits would affect their overall networking.
I really don't see Hetzner being able to legally enforce this.
@labze they advertise unlimited, how we can exceed unlimited? or does it mean unlimited = limited, the heck, hetzner fix your pages and state that ITS LIMITED
they just either want more money (probably in future start enforce new traffic paid plans), or the "unlimited" model cost them more much?

"some of"? Assuming you have 4 servers, this is like a PB of traffic every month... out of curiosity, what are you running?

in these days PB is easy to reach...
Red Lobster offers endless shrimp.
Red Robin offers unlimited sides.
Olive Garden offers bottomless soup.
Typically, you receive two plates initially.
You must finish all existing plates before being allowed to order the next plate.
Then you have to wait at least 15 minutes before the next plate arrives.
Therefore, you can have at most 3 plates per hour.
If you stay for the entire lunch period, you can have 12 plates.
However, endless shrimp has only 6 flavors, so you are getting repeats.
Much better than providers do clearly specify the limitations or fair usage for unlimited bandwidth.
Example: majority of UK mobile phone providers unlimited data plan is limited to 1TB.

well then they should not state unlimited everywhere i look on their pages, but state the following "Traffic limit: 250TB" and they should limit it (limit the port speed or so), or if you exceed it you will pay per TB
they can put 2.7 into their a****. there is no fair use term in their tos or on their website. selling a dedicated 1 gbit uplink with unlimited traffic got them a large marketing benefit against providers with fair use or limited traffic.
Hetzner_OL might want to say something, before i contact the german verbraucherzentrale

Good luck with that. 2.7 says they can terminate without notice. Guess what, they gave notice. Secondly, they said they may cancel the service. I presume, and logic would dictate, that they would cancel at the end of the monthly contract and choose not to renew. Hence @op would not be harmed economically or with loss of service during a contracted period.
Hence, its a provider choosing to not have a customer. Perfectly legit, if done correctly. So, go make complaints for a sitiation you aren't party to- and lets see how it goes
