  • You know what a shit rope is Julian? It's a rope covered in shit that criminals try to hold on to. See the shit kinda acts like grease. The harder you try and climb up the tighter you try to hold on. The faster you fall down the rope.

Someone should ask HostVenom what happened to the hardware HotlineServers had colocated in their Chicago data center.

  • DPDP Administrator, The Domain Guy

People should move on, since clearly the provider has moved on, away from providing services to his customers.

  • It seems they have reopened, with a new name madcityservers

Thanks @JamChoi for the headsup... indeed madcityservers.com looks exactly the same site as was hotlineservers.com if you check the webarchive link. Same Logo, Slider, colour scheme and branding.

    Scammers are back... beware!!!

  • Looks like he added PayPal as payment, if I remember correctly he didn't had PP as payment option in HotlineServers hosting (? Correct me if I'm wrong)

  • Lowendtalk really fosters scammers doesnt it

  • I can do without the PTSD! I wish he can give me back my lost data.

I inquired about their relationship, the following is the response, I just state what I know without adding anything.

After all, we are all responsible to our customers.

    Hi

Hotlineservers was a partnership with a few investors. Only one person was running the company. That was me. I got sick and the whole company fell apart. No one paid the bills. Everyone was trying to get back what they invested in the company and let it shut down. I own the servers in Chicago myself along with the ip range. I decided to open up a new company on my own. I hope this answers your questions.

    Thank you

    Brian

  • still a one man show, no less risky than before and after.

  • I was a customer the first time around.

The person running the company made a post about being ill and needing to shut down the company and offered to transfer the accounts to another company. Before the end of the billing period my VPS was shut off. This was no big deal as I was just using it for testing purposes.

It was around this time I noticed that many of the offers on LEB were no longer active i.e. many companies that seem to dead-pool. Here on LET the guy that ran hotlineservers got many well wishes from the forum members. I thought it was suspicious but chose not to say anything as the guy claimed to be sick.

When he came back with new offers I asked, weren't you being treated for cancer? He said he was fine now and back in business.

Then a few months later he dead-pooled.

I wouldn't trust any business related to this person.

I wouldn't trust him also, when he ran away last time, I still have many account credits, all are gone :s

  • Still doesn't explain the lack of refunds and communication.

  • He got away with it once.
    Got away with it twice.
    Why not a third time?

If he really wants to be responsible, maybe offer free service for ex-hotline server customers? I bet he wouldn't.

  • I don't think Brian set out to scam. He even refunded my money when he cannot deliver one of the VPS. But if the company runs out of money, there is no way he can refund. If they don't pay the bills for a DC, they will be shutdown.
But like some LET providers, which runs by a single person, it is risky, more so it you run out of capital. Hopefully he learns his mistakes and provides a better service in his new offerings.

    I agree.

  • Brian pulled all payments then deadpooled

  • F*k the payments... seriously!
All servers went offline in just a few hours time and no one was able to recover his/her data. I know we are all responsible for backups but I had to wait 20+ hours to realize this was a scam and nothing is coming back. No announcements, no apologies, no admittance ever. Once a crook, the man always will remain a crook.PERIOD.
