Obviously because of your OCD, and your need to collect VPS, you have become an expert on doing this. Would you mind sharing with me how you were able to accomplish this? Then maybe next time I might be able to get one for myself.

From what I saw on hostloc, apparently most mjjs knew about an exploit which was necessary or you basically had zero chance. Apparently, they would add the previous flash sale and wait on checkout page, then click checkout when the deal they want shows up. Because the product id is always the same, apparently this allows them to checkout instantly with one click while everyone else has to click around 4 times to checkout normally.
But obviously, there's also the mjjs who not only knew this exploit, but also ran scripts to buy lots of the insane deals to resell.
Full disclaimer: I have never gotten any of the last deals or 8.88 deals from virmach flash sales ever. I've been here every year and always failed to get it. Now I finally know why. Would I do the exploit if it's still here next year? Probably. But I think I will talk about it to even the playing field.

he could be talking about multiple 8.88 as in past years. I got some from past black Friday. If I remember correctly, last year $8.88 was 2-core, 45GB SSD. I got that one too.

I haven't read all your replies but I don't think you're necessarily the person I was speaking about in one of the comments you quoted me in. There definitely appears to be a few different clusters that are loosely attached to eachother.
And a lot of them do share patterns similar to what you described but the person I was specifically talking about definitely didn't say he was referred by a friend.
