    Dear Customer,
We have received your payment for the order number xxxxxxxx and we would like to thank for choosing OVH services.

Unfortunately, we only provide services to customers resident in the at the moment. You can check the list of countries where we provide services to know which subsidiary you have go to:
    http://www.ovh.com/fr/dedicated_servers/availability.xml

If the payment has been taken, you will need to ask us to credit it back using the same method of payment that you used initially.

In the case that there has been an error and you are based in the UK. we can process your order with the following documentation:

    • a copy of your ID (passport, driving licence)

    • a proof of address (utility bill)

Ordered from ovh.com (French) with Australian details. ovh.co.uk and ovh.ie would not allow account creation. Paid via PayPal.

Crap! That's not great. "you will need to ask us to credit it back using the same method of payment that you used initially."

    No auto refund.

Any idea on current turnarounds for orders via .co.uk?

That's pretty nice, the KS2G I provisioned last month was a D425 with serverbear score of about 404, getting N2800 for 2.99 vice d425 at 9.99 (last month's price) would be nice.

Edit: FYI, I did a Windows Server 2008 R2 install for fun, the D425 really can't handle it, the GUI wouldn't load via terminal services. Didn't really expect it to run well but barely functional beyond core services.

WindowsServer 2008 runs at N2800 without any problems, but i would not recommend the GUI takes to much cpu. So better stay at Linux

I guess I should have read the the fine print at the bottom of the order page, translated.

"Available only for residents of the European Union."

They'll probably refuse my order, too, then.

By the way.. I had a call with OVH. It's not only 1x IPv6, it's a block (as always at OVH).

Too bad they don't allow orders from outside EU.

I have that BHS special (atom, 4gb ram) from end of last year. I'll probably let that expire and pick up one of these, stick server 2008 on it. use it as a rdp box for emergencies atm, should run fine.

The same 4GB Atom is only £10 more for me in the EU rather than Canada, still a pretty nice deal.

finlandvps, we have no desire to compete with Kimsufi. If a few bucks is that important to not have RAID protected disk space and 1Gbps link, then go for Kimsufi.

But they can buy 2 RAID1 Kimsufi and possibly still be cheaper.

(I feel for you, this is problematic - it's a big problem for VPS hosting)

They perfectly do. You just have to order from a correct domain. US/Canada from ovh.ie for example, while most other countries from ovh.com (yes, it is only in french).

But the page you get redirected to:

    http://www.kimsufi.com/fr/

    Says:

"Disponible uniquement pour les habitants de l'Union Européenne."

"Available only for residents of the European Union."

Do you mean they don't enforce that?

Haha, they added a whole bunch of new text on there (translated):

Availability subject to validation of your order and within the limits of available stocks.
Usage: Personal Server. Not authorized for resale. Limited to 3 servers per physical or legal person.
Available only for residents of the European Union.

All of this wasn't there before. I wonder if orders made up until this update will be fullfilled.

@david yes. I've read people was ordering that way perfectly fine before. And they even remove VAT for you (on request only on new orders thou).

When you proceed further, you can select your country from the list.

I've ordered mKS 2G few hours ago, set my country to Russia and even was contacted by russian spoken support within a few minutes after placing an order. Sent them all required documents for ID check and got confirmed after 15 minutes. They've also told me that they will remove the VAT a bit later as the process isn't automated yet, then I can pay my order recurring without VAT.

  • daviddavid Member

@nstorm -- Thanks, that's good to hear. I ordered earlier but haven't been contacted, yet, so I'll just wait and see if they'll process the order or not.

@david @rm_ This is in the footnote which relates to the Disponibilité (Availability) only. So probably only means that they can guarantee 1-10 days availability only for EU residents. While others might just have to wait longer due to additional ID checks.

    EDIT.
@david When you place order they tell you need to send IDs to validation ^ ovh.net. I got contacted by native language support a bit later and they've offered me to send IDs there. But you probably still need to sends documents to validation ^ ovh.net.

@david @ravenchad @FrapHost did you pay for vat?

  • Looks like now we can only get it next week.

    From their e-mail:

    Hi,

Thanks for providing the documents, your order is now being processed.

As stated on our forums, deliveries will start early next week and it might take up to 10 days to get the server: http://forum.ovh.co.uk/showthread.php?t=6730.

  • OVH has responded regarding VAT for non-european customers:

    VATremoval

You need to sign the attached document. As we are based in France the document is in French. By signing the document, you are stating that you are legally not obligated to pay VAT. Without this signed document, OVH must charge you VAT.

Also include a copy of a current bill with your name and address on it along with a photo ID. This is to prove your your place of residency.

After receiving the documents, the TVA will be removed from future purchases and renewals. Unfortunately, OVH can not reimburse you for TVA already paid.

Customers can contact the following French governing body to request a refund of already paid VAT.

    Thanked by 1jcaleb

The forum post still says the KS4G has 2x 500 GB SoftRAID.

  • daviddavid Member

Yes, I paid for the VAT.

why LEB's are fine and this offer wont last:

    this is cheap hardware,
not scaleable like a vps ( eg increase resource when required ),
i would bet a vps node will have far better support and up-time,
slower setup time and rebuild time,
by the looks of it slower network.

    long live LEB!

  • called OVH and they indeed said that availability is 1-10 days and these machines are being built and installed. They're a bit overwhelmed by the response and couldn't predict this. So I guess these are "new" machines as they need to build the machines.

It seems they're currently issuing a turn-around notice instead. I ordered three servers from the French site as well. It'd be too bad if they reject it on the basis of country.

  • awsonawson Member

I just called OVH UK and they too said they have a huge backlog on Kimsufi servers; probably won't get provisioned until next week.

Am tempted to buy 100+ of these, combined with OVHs "DDoS Protection" (quotes because under testing it isnt very impressive in its current state) and make a truly unique protection system.....

Would be interesting to see how hard those Atoms could be pushed.

Because of people like you but who also act on their temptations, they now added limits including 3 servers per person/company, personal use only, and no reselling.

  • rds100rds100 Member

@SplitIce only 3 per customer allowed.
