Hi,
We are actually working on the routing for some ISP.
You may sent your traceroute to [email protected] to help us identify which ISP need to get optimize
Cheers,
Maiko
OVH
:O @trewq to verify and give tag :P
@communty please don't scare this one away
Hi Maiko!
Hi
If you have any feedback or issues, feel free to drop me an email or a PM.
I'll try to do my best to answer your questions.
Good to have a rep for OVH here, I was on the fence about moving to Australia, just so I could get a job at OVH and providing as much help to this market as possible.
Looks like I can stay in NZ now, many welcomes to you, and please take all insults as cannon fodder from lowly trolls. Nothing is meant to be direct assult and we would hate to have another rep leave.
Welcome, MaikoB!
Well...I got my SG server, too.
However, I'm very disappointed about the latency and traceroute. The ping tests from almost all asian regions get the results over 200ms, even 400ms+ from China and Hong Kong.
Any chance to improve the situation? Otherwise, why don't we keep using the servers in OVH-France or Canada
The tests I've made show that we are good with almost all major ISP but still have some issues with fews ISP.
Please send all your traceroutes about high latency to [email protected]. Our network engineer are looking at it and are trying to optimise the routing with all major ISP.
Remember that you can also subscribe to our public Mailling-List about our new datacenters. Datacenter technicians, Network team and support team are there to help you : [email protected] & [email protected] To subscribe, you need to send an empty mail to [email protected] and [email protected].
Cheers.
.
traceroutes sent ~ counting on you, bro
Did anyone just loose network connectivity for around 2-3 mins in Syd?
Yep. Lost $283 728 482 already.
@MaikoB i have sent pm about traceroute with 3 largest ISP in VN. please check it
ping test of SG server via http://ping.pe
the red area is asia. results of China are worst!
digitalocean SG to OVH SG is 235ms. Ok then.
Yeah, they really need to fix that, amazing dedicated server hardware offers with ddos protection, but they really need to fix their peering/routing.
it also is still sortof an issue for people in NZ to AU servers as well as they don't have a good route to VOCUS which is what the majority of ISPs in that country use apparently
lol I wonder if it's going around the world then back to singapore
Singapore: Singapore Telecommunications (AS7473 203.208.155.5)

I've fwd the traces to our Network Engineer. Thank you for that. You can also send them directly to [email protected] if you have any other.
Still working on it.
Did the other guy who did Ceph stuff for OVH's openstack's systems in Beauharanois Quebec leave? that's the only other OVH employee I'm aware of who was on these forums
I would love to work as a datacenter technician, etc in OVH Australia, I'm working on getting a degree in Information Technology as well as certifications on top of that, only thing is I'd need a work visa and housing/a place to stay so that would always be something. I'd be better off working at one of their US locations tbh
Got an email and got free server for 1 year.
Wait, wat... I want free year too ;(
By the time you finish your qualifications, the ovh dc should be hiring.
I am getting below 50ms from Malaysia look decent.
Yea, because thats the only country that actually routes directly to OVH SGP and not through USA first. Try any other asia country lol..
Do you use sgp.smokeping.ovh.net for test?
Simply get one from their subnet 139.99.0.1
Hello !
I've got some good news for you
We have found some of the origin of routing issues in SGP DC and APAC backbone.
Problem is located on BGP best path selection algorithm, which leads to shortcut made on step 5 (Origin) due to an aggregate on our network to avoid blackholing.
This is changed by LEVEL3 on peering we have. They probably do this on their network to do better "Hot Potato Routing".
But it's the only peer / Tier1 we see this problem. Anyway, it should fixed locally. We are looking to fix the issue globally with the LEVEL3 NOC Team.
We just fixed the issue on Equinix IX and TATA peering, and we see a great difference on APAC Targets :
http://sgp.smokeping.ovh.net/smokeping?target=APAC
Please check and report if it's better or not. If you have any traces, send them here or on [email protected]
See for example :
@MaikoB whoa thank you for update. Latency to my ISP now even lower than DO and Linode. Now waiting good offer from provider for SG location :v
What happened to Hong Kong Leaseweb?
