  • When OVH says 250Mbps guaranteed with 1Gbps burst for their DE discover offers, does the 1Gbps also apply to upload speed ? Can't find this anywhere...

From my experience with OVH if it says 250Mbps guaranteed 1Gbps burst you can use 1Gbps in and 250Mbps out anytime. I've only been able to go past 250Mbps to other OVH servers.

Internal network is 1 Gbps, that's probably why.

  • Alright, got one discover server in Frankfurt! Price is cheap for OVH brand ... $69,99 CAD

    I'll quote myself

Only problem is the network which is not on par to Hetzner in Germany.

Maybe I got a bad network switch, I don't know, time will tell.

  • OVH SGP network sometimes goes down/inaccessible for few minutes this morning.
    On both PH Telco.

This has happened for 1-2 months, every 24-72 hours the Singapore network drops completely. I've already brought it up multiple times to OVH support but they don't want to acknowledge the problem and blame a "running cron job on your server" for the network loss.

My suggestion is try to get in contact with one of the higher ups (Oles, Fabian, etc) via Twitter.

I don't like pestering Maiko since he can't do much about these types of problems. I would have brought it up with him but like support, I can't have an MTR running for 48+ hours to capture the issues. It is only down for a minute each time, my monitoring only picks it up since I do 30 second checks. If he does reply and is able to do something, I'll gladly try and provide any information but I think he is too busy with other things.

  • Same thing happened with all my monitoring "pingdom/nodequery/uptimerobot/site uptime" server goes down frequently but not daily.

I'm possibly interested about Limburg VPS Cloud Servers. Yet it seems that for services which do not require lots of RAM there are much better and otherwise similarly priced alternatives out there. Which we're seriously considering. The smaller amount of RAM is only a problem if it leads to swap trashing.

Yet having lots of free RAM won't help, if Disk I/O is ridiculously slow.

On my OVH BHS server I manage to transfer large datasets to Amazon S3 bucket in Canada at 100MB/s (800+ Mbps)
