Damm i think i got stupid lucky with my server

Nice, I have <1500 hours on my HDDs also :-P

Too bad due to excitement I've managed to run dd of=/dev/sda on wrong ssh tab and I've fucked up my home cloud server. This deal just got much worse for me :-D

Currently looking at this one? https://www.whatuptime.com/installing-microsoft-windows-server-2016-datacenter-x64-online-net-personal-range-xc-2016-sc-2016/ but says its for the XC/SC range so wondering if it will work.

it works i already done it :P

If you got a proper machine with KVM and iso mounting function, i would use the images given on their storage and boot from the virtual rom drive: https://virtualmedia.online.net/windows/

  • disregard my last post, clicking on the link for iso tells you exactly how to attach it via idrac ....

  • Tried to add an ipv6 block to my new dedi and got error message:

Error: You are not allowed to order. Please contact Online support for more information.

I opened an administrative ticket asking what was up with this, and got a robo email saying I should get a real response within 24-48 hours. Meh, I installed Proxmox so was thinking of putting some VM's in it with ipv6 addresses.

Which SSD server is that? The $85 one with 2x500gb ssd, 2xE5-2620 and 128gb of ram has me drooling. I have an actual use for it but not immediate enough to justify buying it.

IKR, The RAM is too low for the 24TB version IMO, would rather have 128. 30Euro a TB

    As usual, late :(

  • Ordered 1701.3 and got E3-1240v2 which is a slightly better cpu.

Its a Dell machine which shows sda as a virtual disk. So, I believe has got Hardware RAID. Not yet sure how to gather more details. The disks are detected as sg1 and sg2.

I was doubtful too. Checked and found a post about the HDD, posted in 2008

After a less than lucky draw with kimsufi, I think I kinda lucked out on online.net
1231v3 + 2* 1TB ST1000NM0033 Enterprise HDD both with less than 100 hours. Guess I am gonna cancel my kimsufi.

Look at the full smartctl -a output, not a castrated five attribute version of it, there you can kindly find the "SMART overall-health self-assessment test result: PASSED", as long as that's PASSED, you have no grounds to ask for replacement, if you also don't have any operational issues with the drive. A certain number of reallocated sectors is OK for a drive. As for power on hours, kindly stop being such a self-entitled prick demanding the world and the moon for your 20 EUR. It works, it's cheap, but no, you also must have all brand new drives directly out of the factory?

  • I thought all the servers would sell out in minutes, so I grabbed an LT 1701.1 as quickly as I could. I bet that means I got one of the early ones from the promo, when there were a lot in stock that were configured exactly as advertised. That means the nicer configurations were the one-offs left at the end.

  • @willie said:

Probably true but even if you knew that's what would happen, would you have waited until the counter got low and risked not getting one at all?
