Managed to snag one of the 1TB Avaton models which seems exactly the same spec as an XC 2015 I already have, but much cheaper.
Does anyone have any experience of transferring a Debian 8 system from one box to another. I'm considering booting both in network recovery and netcat-ing the entire drive, then changing the MAC's in 70-persistent-net.rules (udev) before rebooting. Anyone have any tips or gotchas for this approach.
Yay, really good selection of specials.
Main concern for me though, is the bandwidth policy
same here. Just in a few mins.
Mee too
Why don't you want to start with a clean install? if you copy your files (including config files) it should be pretty fast to setup your new server.
If you change providers often, using containers might be a good solution for you.
Why are these SSD drives so slow?
Got three XC1701.2 servers with the following:
My desktop 30€ SSD (HD Tach):
update: sorted it out.
ST240FN0021 - wow - where ? What is your server number starting with ?
Why on earth are you still using Windows XP..
which drive you run smartctl on for hardware raid?
smartctl -i /dev/sda
smartctl 6.4 2014-10-07 r4002 [x86_64-linux-3.16.0-4-amd64] (local build)

Maybe instead of testing write speed just test read speed with:
hdparm -t /dev/sda
Madness just starts.. they not accept PayPal? Best way to add credit card than trying to remove it from system..)
1701.2 benchmark if anyone interested, im also getting rid of this box if someone wants it off me just pay the 5 euros i did and you can have it

It's an option, but to cherry pick files off the old system means remembering and installing exactly the same packages in the same order to get consistent UID's, the setup alone would take a couple of hours, and there's bound to be snags, hence my preference to do a bulk copy if possible. A bit of machine time copying but very little of my time. So far I can only think of the LAN MAC address that differs but other may have experienced problems specific to online.
@piohost they don't allow transfers and this server is still available if it's an XC If you contact them fast enough they can cancel it.
I pay them with Paypal, but I have an old account, so maybe they have changed something since I created it?
you could try something like
where ,00 is the device number on the raid, maybe differ depending on the port used.

It's called procrastination.
Delay it until you can't. :P

Dumping my Dedibox Limited 33816 for a XC DEALS 1701.2
:-)
Got a 160GB Intel SSD.
PM871 shines here :
It's perfectly fine on SATA2.
On my Samsung 128 GB on SATA3:
Server models sd-83XXX all got these drives
Same here, maxing 133mb/s.
Nice I haven't got a server from that range. Seems they were also in sd-86XXX.
So you guys saying you got the Samsung drives on the XC DEALS 1701.2?
I got one, Intel 160GB but if I can get the Samsung, might try my luck again.
Try again For 10 servers 3 of them are Samsung.
As long as you did and install you'd have to cancel before the 20th and pay until the end of the month or would they reimburse everything if it's cancelled few minutes after the install? (If it was another intel or worse)
No need to install - just look in the installer for capacity starting with 120XXX then it's Samsung. If 113XXX then it's Intel. If 151XXX then it's another 160 GB.
Is the bandwidth unmetered?
Okay.. final they let my account use PayPal, hope they have fixed the SATA2 bug.
Turning back to Online again for a XC 1701.1, let's see what they have this time.
