You'd better hide your IP to avoid random DDoS attacks

  • Dedibox Limited 33816 in DC3 is gone. Only DC2 left.

  • I take it the installs are still taking long? I started my 1st install and it's still on "Start Dedibox." For those who dealt with the long installs, when did they eventually finish?

So excited to ssh inside this sexy server, the long install is giving me blue balls.

Is there anything wrong with hosting stuff on it? I mean, it's server hardware, you can make a RAID, it has got a 99,9% SLA and a GBit-Interface. Compared to a Kimsufi this is pure sex.

Sorry, I might not have been clear. I am referring to hosting content for an audience in the U.S. from a server in France.

The majority of my visitors are in the US (as am I) and I have used Scaleway and Online.net (AMS1 and their Paris location) for hosting a lot of my websites that generate income and they have worked fine. I haven't tested out this Limited Edition box yet though.

Thanks for the insight. It's much-appreciated.

Back on topic, what do you guys use Avotons (or in general Atoms) with SSD? My understanding is generally Atoms are used as storage servers, however would it make more sense to have HDD for larger disk space?

Unless these Avotons could be functioning as a webserver as well?

Given that Avotons are not weak CPU's, they score almost 4k in PassMark, have 8 cores which makes them great for threaded apps, combining them with an SSD make them a great web server, especially if your web apps are not storage intensive.

A 20GB Wordpress site hosted on it could get millions of views without a problem, since SSD is great for SQL queries.

You can also use them as a Windows remote desktop, it pretty much flies.

    This ^

8 cores @ 2.4GHz + 160GB SSD ( High IOPS Even at SATA2 limitations) +1GBit port makes for a pretty capable box for hosting a bunch of medium to high traffic wordpress sites, provided the stack gets a fair bit of tuning as well.

But that means each core is only as fast as about 500 score in PassMark, right?

Why this server is 1.1 TTC and only for 3 days I am new guide me please.

they do prorate the first invoice, and there is not much left for september ;-)

after that you'll get monthly invoices with full month and price on it.

make sure to read and understand their cancellation terms!

  • Few questions for Dedibox Limited 43816 (120gb ssd atom version) -

    1) What can these boxes be used for other than Seedboxes?

    2) Are the IPs clean to automate Twitter facebook etc?

    3) Can you get extra IPs for cheap like 1$ per month that others give.

    4) Can we install windows server trial on this using our own iso?

    5) Can we split this into multiple windows VMs or Windows + linux?

What do you want to use it for? Narrow your question
    2) Are the IPs clean to automate Twitter facebook etc?
    Should be
    3) Can you get extra IPs for cheap like 1$ per month that others give.
Extra IP's have a set up fee of €2.99 for each of them then they are €1.99 per month
    4) Can we install windows server trial on this using our own iso?
    Not sure
    5) Can we split this into multiple windows VMs or Windows + linux?
Yes but it will be costly if you need a few IP's

First of all thanks, I do understand now if I have to cancel I need to submit request before 20th of every month. since, prorate billing telling 1 month so it not good to order now right?

you can order anytime. they calculate the bill based on the days left for that month, so you only pay exactly what you need to.

you either get an invoice for only three days and the according amount of money for that. or you'll see an invoice for one month + 3 days for the exact amount more.

either way you are only paying exactly what you receive, so don't be afraid to order now ;-)

    1. The boxes can be used for a lot of things (I'm going to be using it to host a bunch of sites). The 10.99 ones come with 8 cores, 8gb ram, and an SSD drive so they're no slouch.

    2. Every IP I have received from Online.net has not been blacklisted and is clean

    3. You can get extra IPs but they're more expensive then just $1 month.

  • I've seen they offer larger IPv4 blocks on request with onetime setup fee. Does anyone have any info how much would it cost to order /24 or /25 from them?

If you want to keep it short then order on 20.10, then immediately cancel it and it will be working till the end of October.

  • this is not limited edition.

    They didn't sold out quickly

in Personal Range servers they offer 1 additional IP for 1.99€ monthly + 2.99€ setup fee
and max. /27 for 59.99€ monthly + 2.99€ setup fee

Maybe some changes for Start Range.

On the failover IP page they stated

"We also offer RIPE blocks of 64, 128 and 256 IP addresses without recurring monthly fees. These blocks are available on request from our sales department."

I was asking because I did not want to send them a ticket.

So I wanted to know if someone has already asked them, what is the pricing of those IP blocks?

What would be the gateway of a failover IP address? MainServerIP.1 right? and netmask 255.255.255.255 ?

May be worth to open a new topic to gather more opinions regarding the onetime fee IP subnets I'm interested as well
