There will be a few here and there but it might be time to check out a 3440 or one of our Opteron boxes before they are gone too.

Really happy with dacentec support so far. Gotta complain about the speeds on the 216.126.x.x though, had a server in 192.254 that had better bw.

    the 199.191 seems best

  • hotsnowhotsnow Veteran

can anyone which are not on 199.191 help me test this and tell me the result? thanks :)

@dacentec my 199.191 server got the same speed, 108M/s, but my dell server always got max 90M/s, can't determine its network card issue or switch issue...

  • dacentecdacentec Member, Host Rep

Some different network cards perform differently. Sometimes it is firmware, sometime it's a setting that needs tweaking. 90M/s is still over 700 Mbps

yep, this 20% difference in same datacenter can ignore, but currently I still have the strange outside network speed issue, not all the test locations are slow, such as, wget mirror.dacentec.com only have small difference, about 20%, but wget mirror.leaseweb.com have huge difference, 88.3M/s vs 2.7M/s, any suggestion are welcome...

dacentec said: Our order delivery SLA is 24 hours after payment (or justification) and that includes nights and weekends. In theory if you order by 11AM saturday, you will have your server by 11AM sunday.

  • Today I got my server delivered after around 16 hours, so it takes a bit longer than usual.
Probably too many servers to be delivered :-)

But indeed they do deliver 24/7 within 24 hours :-)

Does anyone know why they charge $10 for Esxi?
"ESXi 5 Evaluation Mode ( + $10.00 USD)" is it for extra ips or they provide some license? However, some other configurations there are no charge.

  • 216.126.x.x > I've yet to be able to use my server today. Reboot = never comes back online. Not sure whats going on. Got a ticket in.

  • They are telling me its halting on start up with a "kernal panic error" now why would it do that on a fresh machine? I've tried re installing several of their Images and all the same issue.

  • dacentecdacentec Member, Host Rep

@princeshoko, in the worst case we can swap the entire machine.

We have some howtos written mostly by our customers the describe how the system is supposed to work.

  • A company I work for now is leaving Dacentec since they don't comprehend safe harbors when it comes to resellers handling DMCA requests to their downstream clients. We're tired of having client IP addresses null routed and then having to deal with their BS DMCA handling.

I remember the time when I had to school one a tech support agents on how to interpret the DMCA law from a Cornell University website.

Also, the ISP selection could of been better and it'd be nice if they had phone support.

I have hetzner (DE) dedis and OVH (CA) dedis amongst others.
I recently rented a Dacentec one. I am getting approx 340KB/s to Hetzner and about 6.63 MB/s to OVH CA.
Can anyone else check their speed on following two links from Dacentec too?
    http://proof.ovh.ca/files/100Mio.dat
    http://hetzner.de/100MB.iso

I raised a ticket with Dacentec, but was told that it may be out of their control.

    Does SW support Windows OS?

Just got one $20 offer and pending :)

  • sinsin Member

Just got mine :) took 14 hours for deployment which is great - the root password they gave me did not work but no biggie since I was just doing to install Debian anyways. I started an install using the panel and it's been around 40 minutes, gonna head back to bed and check it when I wake up.
