Wow, OVH have just removed a 40Gb/s link between London and Amsterdam.

Any idea what 'After securing the DWDM optic network' could mean?

Tl;dr: Are there still links between London and Amsterdam? Weathermap shows nothing.

    See http://weathermap.ovh.net/
they don't host any servers neither in London nor in Amsterdam, so likely this was not the most crucial of the connections to have. They've also got a lot of links from London to Roubaix, which are much more important and useful.

In this context should mean adding backup links or routes so that if a cable is cut, the traffic is still mostly unaffected.

    Thanks for the explanation @rm_

I know this is unlikely to affect anyone, am just taking an interest.

  • Just renewed my server :)

142sk2 is now listed as "high" availability (many servers), and has been for this whole evening. This is interesting because... you can't order it anymore from the new website. It is the previous incarnation of the KS2: Atom N2800, 4GB RAM, 1TB disk for 9.99 EUR/mo.
The direct links to order are
    https://www.kimsufi.com/en/order/kimsufi.cgi?hard=142sk2
    https://www.kimsufi.com/fr/commande/kimsufi.cgi?hard=142sk2
if anyone needs one. Should work, but don't complain (too loudly) if they disregard this and instead deliver you the newer KS2. :)

were there any setup fees before the new offers or am I mistaken?

Don't tell me, I'm 5 euro over my budget D:

And there seems to be quite a few times I see the i3 in stock @ BHS. On the other hand I almost never see any stock of the atoms in BHS (other than the first day it launches, which turned out to be an error).

yeah wish they offered the ks-1 in BHS, that would be nice.. i would love to get the ks-6 but the lack of ip's is what's making me hold off on it.

Would you not be better waiting for this to come in stock? http://www.soyoustart.com/en/offers/sys-ip-1.xml

well, it's a pleasant surprise that they offer this in CA now.. was intrested when rolled it out in France but not sure if it was limited to EU. still prefer the CPU from ks-6 thought.

    -update-

Also wish the setup fees weren't so high! even if they did a 6 month commit with no setup fee's would be better.

i almost have no idea what i can do with a ks-6...the thing is just tok powerful for my low end needs...may be as soon as i can get rid of that server i have with dacentec i'll grab one of these for remote desktop

I have something similar with WSI.. It's overkill for what I need, just use it to play around with ramdisk.

how many server do you have with ovh?

  • @earl said:

one i3 and atom in bhs and one 2013 atom in rbx and one atom in gra...so i guess not that many. had to keep the rbx one because that is the only one i could run windows 2008 on (some stuff i run does not work in windows 2012 and the trick @joodle uses to install 2012 does not work on 2008, and i prefer to run an instance in bhs (in the i3) and one in France for redundancy)

  • Hmmmm I need another N2800. Too bad my 3eu/month one is the same specs for 5eu/month now but I really need this one, hope stock is back fast soon or anybody has a spare?
