Try 'nullmailer', it's extremely light and simple to set-up, at least if you also host your own E-Mail and can just point it at your own servers.

I don't have a problem with mine, though coming back to the US is a different issue...has more to do with my residential provider's routing. But in terms of peer-to-peer, it runs very well.

  • It's been 2 weeks I have this kind of server without being able to have any service. Oh wait! excuse me, I had it to work 4 hours, just enough in order to find out it was desktop hardware, not server's hardware.

I do order servers from many providers (Hetzner massively, various others) since many years. Kimsufi is the first one which is able to be spectacularly awefull. No support response for days, no service and no refund...

I wouldn't recommand it to my worst enemy...

I then discovered dedibox XC 2014.
    http://www.online.net/fr/serveur-dedie/dedibox-xc

It is quite good for the price and it does have real performances.

I even got my ticket answered in 20minutes! instead of many days with ovh.

my idea : I prefere having a cheap but efficient server rather paying less and do not have any service...

Thanks to Kimsufi, I discovered Dediboxes.

Uh, what did you expect? The processor should have been a clue. Did you really expect Xeons?!?

Kimsufi support does suck. You're on your own. But that's hardly surprising given the price.

And you signed up just today to educate us on these matters, how helpful of you!!! @mpkossen I wonder can we maybe have this helpful person checked if they maybe come from a Free.fr or Iliad DC subnet in France? :) Earlier in the thread Online.net has already been trying to covertly post jabs at OVH, their previous username was "Sebfm": http://lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/576152/#Comment_576152 maybe also check for an IP match. Maybe this time they learned and use an unknown new nickname, or also maybe a different ISP.

On the OVH website it says Kimsufis are available from 8EUR. Prior to these Atoms being released what did the 8EUR deal get you?

An Atom 230 or Celeron 220 CPU, other specs (2GB RAM, 500 GB disk) were the same.

    This requires:

PHP Pear with Net_SMTP and Mail plugins (apt-get install php-net-smtp php-mail) for Email notifications

Wait until you get dinged for some of their BS cancellation policy...

Oh wait, are you actually affiliated with Online.Net again?

Nope, looks like the same Online.net troll from the IPs and username.

Sales must be really slow at online.net that they need to resort to this..

  • Is there anyone who wants to use an i3 in RBX (FR) for a month? Only $20 and no OS has been installed. OVH gave me the wrong server and I know that it'll take weeks, if ever, for them to give me the correct one..

  • @0xdragon As long as you didn't install any OS on it, you can cancel it and ask for a refund. Contact the support at Kimsufi forums.

It takes years, not even joking :( Their support person hasn't even been online for days!

I got a SoYouStart server http://www.soyoustart.com/en/offers/sys-e32-3.xml I wanted one in GRA or RBX but got SBG. I feel like I wasted my money. Their support is 1 reply per day and the replies are not helpful.

  • rm_rm_ IPv6 Advocate, Veteran
    edited May 2014

@n0my why? SBG is better than either of those, closer to Frankfurt/DECIX, closer to the rest of the Europe, has none of those thosands of 5 EUR/mo unmetered 100 Mbit Kimsufis stacked on the same network.

  • RBX is a complete mess imho. I'd be glad to be in SBG. :)

  • n0myn0my Member

    rm_ said: why?

Lower ping to UK. 10ms is a lot for gaming.

  • True, it really is a huge difference for game servers. SBG is ment to be faster for the other part of Europe.

Did you try asking them to switch you over?

  • Yeah, that is OVH support for you(slow, hardheaded, etc.). Replies in 1-2 days with some random answer or totally unrelated.

Maybe you entered your address in their control panel in English, while on your documents it's in Bulgarian? In which case try writing it in Bulgarian in the panel as well, this seems to be what their support wants you to do.

Hi there, just got a KS-3 yesterday in BHS and it's running great! I've tried the command posted in this thread for the total hdd hours:

    [root@r4 ~]# smartctl -a /dev/sda | grep Power_On
    9 Power_On_Hours 0x0032 100 100 000 Old_age Always - 71

How do you read it ?

    Thank you!
