Not really, considering you can grab 10 on 100 on GTT for example for about $700/mo.

And no, 100G equipment isn’t expensive, it’s actually dirt cheap these days.

It's like Pepsi and Coca-cola. In the end, Path will probably be taken over by GTT or so.

@byteangel said: However, aren't they using a GRE tunnel to peer with the path? Their traffic could go over another upstream provider without DE-CIX, resulting in higher latency for sure. But I don't understand why there would be an organized mob against their link going down. After all, no ISP or DDoS protection company that I've seen guarantees that your traffic will always go in a certain direction or through an IX. Who am I to know? If their customer is here, they can shed some light on what is in the contract about this clause.

No they weren't using a GRE tunnel they had a peering session with PATH over DE-CIX. It doesn't matter if it's a cross-connect or an IX they just shut down their session and then shrugged.

  • More drama. Path is dumping their ip ranges for cash.. Even if its currently deployed to existing customers.

Let me present you the biggest cuckolding of hosting industry.

Regardless if they are selling them, or running a subnet ponzi scheme with their customers, by deploying old customer's stuff to new customers, its a shitshow.

    TL:DR

Path.net apparently unloaded some IPs under an existing client in order to sell them and gave them basically no notice.

    It's a fire sale boys.

IPs yanked from @Ian_Dot_Tech right? Were they in use with active customers on it before they got pulled? Have the subnets already been reassigned to a new owner/user?

I don’t think there is currently anything comparable, where providers can easily switch to

From what i've heard their support isn't as great and their API is also a bit lacking and the protection isn't as great but still super good as Paths. Its a good alternative but probably not a full Path replacement yet.

    Hello,
I have always tried to be honest with clients and not lead anyone on by giving false information. Let me clarify and address some issues that have arisen this past week regarding Path.net and LevelOneServers.com. On Tuesday (3-19-2024) 2x /24's went offline as they were being reclaimed by Path. At the time this was a shock to us as we had no knowledge that Path had terminated our service with them. However, upon speaking with Path it seems a singular email was sent out giving us 3 weeks notice, which I missed and that is my fault! Luckily for us, Path understood the confusion we had and gave us the subnets back so we could migrate our clients over a week.

This will be my only comment on the matter. Regardless of the drama people have with Path, missing the email was strictly my fault and Path was very nice to allow us to have more time on the subnets.

So to clarify, Path terminated the contract without your prior consent? Thus you're planning to move to a new IP broker?

  • Well, I did say it was the biggest cuckolding in the industry.

This info was naturally not supposed to go to outsiders, but it did cause Treemonkash/Tinyweasel (or whatever his name is) seemingly crafted such message which fooled the DE-CIX people.

I had nothing to do with it, and I'm not Tinyweasel. Stop spreading lies.
