@Francisco any thoughts in buying NB? Popcorn worthy?

How would accomplish the task given the owner is AWOL? Kind of hard to sign contracts and what not when no one can get a hold of you is it not?

Won't be anything left to buy at this rate. Customers are jumping ship, doubtful the gear was owned, and even if it was no way anyone can get to it since Jay is AWOL.

Bet the domain gets picked up so fast it would make your head swim and then sold off.

No sense in thinking any one can "buy" it because it can not be done legally.

@Jord why are you still manning the helm of the sinking ship if there is basically no chance you are getting paid? It looks like this is the end so unless you have been paid in advance, this sounds like a lot of stress and suffering for no reward.

he's not letting his reputation sink with the familybytes.

I'd actually say that his involvement gave people false hope, particularly with promises of updates from Jay that never materialised and he continued to say were coming. This has elongated the inevitable. They say no good deed goes unpunished. I have zero sympathy with Jay regardless of what the underlying reason is. This is not a sudden demise, it has been on the cards for well over a year and he has willfully refused to step up and give updates or be upfront about his dying business. It was obvious, but the faithful (naive and gullible) wouldn't and couldn't see what was right infront of them to see.

Thanks! oof - no EPP on portal, blesta shows "Nexus bytes" as registrant/admin/tech/billing contacts and whois shows namesilo as registrar with contacts obfuscated due to whois protection.

@bdl how your Namesilo e-mails going? Any update/tutorial for people?

    Hi all,

Still going through their process listed at https://www.namesilo.com/support/v2/articles/policies/reseller-complaints - I'm at step 4 at the moment after they've attempted to make contact and wait 24 hours. I've forwarded my receipt of the most recent renewal of my domain to them and am waiting a response. I'll report back if anything changes... a lot of it is just waiting for timeouts after Namesilo and myself try and make contact.. Now that NB's mail server seems to be bouncing the whois protection contact email, things may be a little quicker.

I'll report back as I continue to follow the bouncing ball! :) My advice is this point is to go through your records and find your receipts for the most recent renewal of your domain and/or when you purchased it. I'm not sure if NB's client portal is available at the moment however if so, download it if you can!

    Hi all,

I can confirm that my domain was transferred successfully from smallweb (Nexusbytes) using the procedure listed at https://www.namesilo.com/support/v2/articles/policies/reseller-complaints . Namesilo was great with the transfer - I followed their procedure to the letter and patiently waited for each step to complete.

I didn't get the extra years of registration I'd used my Smallweb credit for, I'm assuming because smallweb/Nexusbytes hadn't pushed the renewals to Namesilo, but beggars can't be choosers so I'm just grateful I was able to reobtain the domain with Namesilo's help.

@bdl said: because smallweb/Nexusbytes hadn't pushed the renewals to Namesilo

    How much did you lost?

I renewed for 3 years, only one pushed to Namesilo. Had about GBP30 credit on Smallweb account and renewals were about GBP8-9 each from memory.

From memory I'd recharged at some promo rate (I think get 100% credit bonus, all in all I think I paid GBP15 for one year's renewal).. so you could say I lost GBP7 ish since I overpaid that amount for one year..

You win some, you lose some - but all in all I don't think I lost anything. I was actually preparing to migrate a few services to Nexusbytes prior to all the trouble it was having a year ago so I potentially could have lost a lot more!

Got enough backups across different providers so in reality I lose time more than anything else should a host decide to chuck a Reverse Romanian.

  • Found out where my server was @Jord, seems London. "Region: 12 - [G] Europe-UK-London"

Who is Amrutha? They're still responding to my NB tickets.

Where is everyone else moving too? After a Windows similar to the one I have with NB - vDedi-4g-Clearance

May I ask how fast they replied to yours?

They have already acknowledged my request and said that they would take the next step if they do not hear back from the reseller.
