That's ridiculous. While some providers are already handing out /48 per VPS, Hosthatch they can't squeeze enough /64's. And that happens when VPS doesn't get a /64 by default, and customer has to open a ticket...

Does everything really have to be as scandalous? :)

is there an option to upgrade 3 vCPU plan ($60) from 100% dedicated to 150% dedicated?

    Thanks

Yes, you can combine the $60 + $30 plans for this.

No. Although the stability, performance and price are all very good, their support, at least for me, is a dealbreaker for production use. I'd pay a premium and go with a provider that offers great support for production.

My ticket for requesting IPv6 for my new LA server was marked as "on hold" without any reply. I guess I was supposed to find out the reason from this thread instead of from my ticket.

I don't want to sound "scandalous", but I can't understand why there's an IPv6 shortage. There are only 15,104 IPv4 addresses originating from AS63473, but multiple /48 IPv6 subnets. How come that /48 for LA not enough for every /64 per VPS?

While I agree we definitely have (a lot) to improve on the support side - some of the complaints are just...wow, including this one.

No one said to anyone that they won't be assigned an IPv6 subnet. Someone replied to their ticket saying "we're temporarily out, please hold".

Your ticket (and a few others) were put on-hold because someone on the support team made a decision that we expect to fix the situation soon and then assign you the IPv6. I can put it back on "open" if you feel that is more appropriate.

I can point to at least 3 people who complained on this thread about not getting a reply, or getting one after a few days, whose tickets were along the lines of "what CPUs are used? is it possible to get more NVMe space? can I pay monthly?" etc.

I know these are all basic questions, and as a human, you want to be treated like a human and be responded to with respect. But you also have to understand our side. All of these questions are answered here, and human time costs real money at the end of the day.

    @psb777 said: I don't want to sound "scandalous", but I can't understand why there's an IPv6 shortage.

There isn't one. Why do you assume there is? Is it because someone said "haha hosthatch said they are out of IP addresses" here, or do you have any more information that I am not aware of?

This matches my experience with their support: it took ~4 weeks for them to fix the disk size on one VM, and has been ~10 days (still unresolved) since I filed a ticket about broken ISO mounting/uploading which prevents me from reinstalling another VM.

Both tickets have had period/s of 1+ week without reply, and some of the replies look like the reps didn't read previous replies in the ticket (which may be a result of templated responses, or just trying to be thorough, but asking seemingly redundant questions after days/weeks of silence doesn't come across well).

Yes, it was because someone said "Hosthatch told me they are temporarily out of IPv6 addresses in Los Angeles" in this thread. And no, I don't have any more information.

I'm not sure why he was under the impression that you were out of IPv6 addresses, maybe he misunderstood the "out" part.

Your ticket (and a few others) were put on-hold because someone on the support team made a decision that we expect to fix the situation soon and then assign you the IPv6. I can put it back on "open" if you feel that is more appropriate.

I feel leaving it as "open" is less appropriate. What I expect (from a customer friendly provider, anyway) is a brief reply about the reasons of the delay, something like "we're working on other issues and will get your IPv6 done in 3 days". It at least gives the customer some confidence in the trustworthiness and responsiveness of your support.

I know these are all basic questions, and as a human, you want to be treated like a human and be responded to with respect. But you also have to understand our side. All of these questions are answered here, and human time costs real money at the end of the day.

Yes, I agree that even copy-pasting some basic responses costs time, and therefore money. And yes, this is a rather minor issue, compared to deliberately ignoring "urgent" tickets (from certain customers), or leaving issues unfixed for months, etc. Anyway, it's your business decision to spend how much time, energy and money on customer support. And it's my decision to pay a premium for better support. If you find my complaints "wow" and unreasonable, you don't really have to reply to it. Your time costs much more than lower level support agents', no?

I guess support is important when you need it, but these are cheap VPS and something's got to give. If the quality of something has to suffer I'd go with support every time, price and server performance is much more important.

I wish providers would automate everything (i know that's hard). I especially like HostHatch's custom ISO download and mounting feature, I just waited more than 24h for another provider to do the same via a ticket. This is the most inconsistent feature among providers.

I run all my VPS in production redundantly so reliability isn't much of a problem. Thinking you can trust any provider to be reliable (including Google, Amazon and Microsoft) is delusional.

Hi, can I get a list of test IP?

    https://hosthatch.com/features#datacenters

I wonder if they have other HK IP address to test?

What's wrong with the one that's listed?

I can reach it from here.

It’s likely they are from China and the ip has been blocked :D
