The only thing I didn't get so far is why would anyone go for your CEPH option if there is no difference in size or price over NVMe ? Any advantages there?

    A few yeah

  • @Hetzner_OL What happens to current CX customers? Can current plans be migrated to the cloud offers?

@Hetzner_OL Can I pay through SEPA Lastschriftmandat?

    Yes

  • @Hetzner_OL So these VPS can be linked to Hetzner storage box and that internal traffic will not be counted?

We are using Intel Skylake Xeon CPUs with 2.1 GHz.

Is the CPU shared or Dedicated? Can we use it 100% for as long as we need?

Could you please elaborate which exactly of CEPH features are of use for this VPS offer?
Thin provisioning? LVM can do that on local NVMe much faster. Fault tolerance? NVMe is already RAID10.
Or the scenario is to combine a swarm of these nodes into one "global" FS? I really don't see the point, that's why I'm asking.

Eventually, yes. We plan to integrate existing CX plans in the future.

Hi LET readers, It's great to see so many of you excited about the new Hetzner Cloud! I am going to do my best to answer your questions one at at time. --Katie

    1. Why do you have so high pings to Dubai and whole Gulf region? Routing from Dubai to Hetzner goes through the UK. Why? It adds additional 15-20ms. For example, pings to velia.net (another provider in Germany) go by land and much lower that yours.

    2. Is it any private network between cloud and dedicated servers?

Also, what's the limit for floating IPs?

If you don't see the point then you probably won't, to be honest. Plenty of data out there though.

    https://www.redhat.com/en/resources/raid-versus-replication

(Edit: Sorry that sounded kind of dickish, not intended. Just mean to say that if the CEPH model of replication does not appeal to you by the merit of what it is alone, you probably don't want it.)

Is it correct that incoming bandwidth is not counted in the 20 TB limit, only outgoing is?

don't want to sound dickish, but I'd expect to be able to use whatever I get from those cores, even 24/7 if needed... especially without the need to lookup any fancy virtual limits hidden in some TOS.

that said I am thinking of the hypervisor taking care of proper balancing and if needed soft limitation...

  • Can you retain snapshots while deleting a VPS and reload the VPS later from the snapshot? Hence only paying for hourly VPS usage and Snapshot storage?

    Thanks

  • Just register and email my passport. waiting to give a try.
