@xset I'm not in the EU my friend, so that's may be viable. If you want to cancel it, we can try to transfer it

blue If its been over 7 days, you can call and cancel, if you want. Cancelling something is not pointless, if you cant wait.

I thought you meant call them and ask about the setup, not cancellation. Sorry :) Misunderstood.

@netomx I dont think it can be transferred to non-eu. I'll use it until renewal. I'll have to ask them about this. They clearly still dont know what happens with >3 orders. But my guess is that I can only renew 3.

@erawanarifnugroho only 160 GB disk and 10€/month - that's 3 times more price and 3 times less disk. I feel for you!

Yeah :D... Well, at least I have something to play with, fast to deliver, and also available for me :p

@erawanarifnugroho just wait until OVH starts selling to outside EU, then you can switch

Hm.. You are right. Thanks :)

Didn't they said that they can sell the M or G, but not KS for non EU? Maybe if I have spare money to play with :)

  • xsetxset Member

I'm only getting 10 Mbits/s from this KS4G, weird. Maybe I'll reinstall Linux on it to test.

I called the commercial team just now and got the number you are calling is busy... Surely they can accept more than one call at a time?

    Oh, http://status.ovh.co.uk/?do=details&id=5143

I just got number out of service, did they not pay their phone bill? ;) Either that or people are spamming the hell out of it and they got their provider to cut it off.

Shame this time when i'm paying for my KS they can't set it up; I never had a problem with setup when they did the freebie Kimsufi's.

  • Has anyone managed to phone OVH UK? I tried calling to see why my order is not even showing as processing in my manager and I just get a solid tone as if the number was dead

I called a few days ago it worked then; tried a few times today - now I get "This number is temporarily out of order".

Sods law, I got through after posting on here, just told have to wait, it's due to back logs of orders and until order/payment has been verified the order won't show on manager and he can't say when that will be.

@villageidiot delivery time starts after you have made a payment, after 7 days of payment you can cancel if you want.

Wonder how awesome people will think these elcheapo servers are when these thousands of gaming servers (which is what most of them will be) start clogging up the bandwidth and start attracting hundreds of thousands of ddos attacks.

  • xsetxset Member

@sman the ddos protection works :) limits are low, and block easily the traffic.

They are realy overloaded.... i wanted to extend my dedi, i wait since hours for confirmation that they extended it...

  • Phone line was up at 10am today BST. Not sure when it dead.

There is no such thing as ddos protection as far as I know. You can do things to limit the impact. There are tools that help speed up troubleshooting. However I don't think there is a magic bullet that "prevents" ddos.

As long as you have the hardware and network to eat the attack, then in my mind that is preventing the denial of service.

Yes, the best prevention I know of is having the capacity to handle it. Not an efficient use of capacity though. To have 100x what you need just to "eat" attacks.

Better to avoid them in the first place. Don't offering servers for next to nothing which attracts mostly gamers and PiTA customers who then in turn abuse their bandwidth and attract DDoS etc. It becomes a vicious circle.

@sman ovh usually puts ddos targets in rescue mode and kick out the offenders

  • netomxnetomx Moderator, Veteran

@xset if you want, please ask them, I'm gonna send you my handle via PM. :)

    Thanked by 1Trav

That is a manual process that takes time though. DDoS attacks come and go by the minute and are highly adaptable. If you try automate it I would image there would be lots of false positives. I'm no expert on it though.
