IOMMU window should be 64MB or larger, but whoever set it to 1GB was just asking for odd memory holes.
I am a data hoarder and Mr El Cheapo I wouldnt resist asking them to upgrade the HW .
Tried all values there, none would work...
I set mine to 256MB, and altered other stuff in there, but I don't remember what. Got Debian 9, don't care.
I tried to get CentOS 7 working... That was my goal there...
Well, one of the goals :>
Well I guess that's a goal for some ancient hardware with shitty EFI/BIOS.
I rarely give up, but I have given up in this case.
It's really ancient hardware and PITA to deal with.
Yes. Yes it is.
Having a KVM that only operates in simplex mode doesn't help, though.
Other than CentOS 6, what other pre-built OS would work for this machine?
READ THE FUCKING THREAD YOU SCRUB.
(Pretty much anything- if you can get the KVM to work, and it has a BIOS update, and your time is worthless.)
I did read the thread.. that's why I'm not gonna attempt KVM for now. CentOS 6 EOLs in 2020, so I'll stick with it I suppose
at least there's this
CentOS 6 works while 7 won't work.
That would be why 6 works and 7 doesn't. SYSTEMD FFS.
Huh, I just told him that CentOS 6 works while 7 won't... ? Same would happen with Debian 8 / 9, and it does work.
He's drunk.
Also:
Yes, I gave nearly the full 2TB to / because I am a lazy scrub.
I guess so.
My RAID config consisted of 2x2TB HDD RAID 1 + 4x1TB HDD RAID 10 btw.
Yeah. I kept the 750s, as stated above.
That's just a matter of time :>
Got 2 replaced. Just need one more that works this month.. I hope.
Still, really impressed with @Dacentec, even if they're fucking hard to spell because of missing consonants.
Their hardware... wouldn't mind an upgrade.
just got one of these servers. hung up on me and support had it running again in under 5 minutes. the support is awesome so far.
They hung up, machine hung up? Your English description leaves much to be desired.
What? You've never called your dedis before to check in on them?
I'm not that kind of parental unit. I want to make sure they're doing OK, but they don't need me calling every hour to make sure they're doing the right thing!
Nope
LOL, my bad
the server hung as in stopped responding. aka locked up.
Nope
