Near 10k passmark on the CPU tho, great Plex box potentially.

I don't fucking know what to do. Need to spend some time in a darkened room and give me head a wobble.

Skip the beers and keep 'em all :D

  • @dacentec are you going to restock the bonus 4TB dedi?

  • is it SW or HW Raid, I was thinking of doing:

    Raid 1 on the 2x 2TB SATA

    Raid 6 on the 4x 1TB SATA

@painfreepc you would get alot better results with raid 10 4x1tb

I did some reading about raid 6 vs raid 10, you are correct..

How'd you get yours delivered before mine? I only posted they were back in stock after I'd checked out my order :)

Did you request a KVM to install your OS? Normally that's the holdup on delivery.

I've not only got my I've had the disks upgraded in my other server too :-0

Probably because I asked for stock CentOS and not a KVM.

  • How do they configure the drives if I request an automatic install?

From memory, on the initial install they do the 2x2 as RAID1 and leave the other disks for you to sort out.

If you're reinstalling you can choose the RAID config for the 2x2TB, the rest are still for you to sort out afterwards.

  • @Nekki - thanks. I thought that would do, but I see they only offer Ubuntu circa 2012, so I'd best wait for a KVM :>

  • Asked for hdd upgrade too, got new hdd-s within few hours. Really good support.

The best thing is - i got rid of 4 zombie drives with 60k hours and some reallocated sectors, additional space is nice bonus too.
Used raid5 again, no critical data there, so maximum possible space still with some redundancy seems like good choice.

  • RAID5 performance with 4 drives is horrible :(

  • Damn. Missed it again! Going to keep an eye on this one like a hawk.

Sure, thanks. Is the bandwidth on these incoming + outgoing? :-)

Bandwidth is incoming and outgoing, but a bump up to 20TB is just $5/month.

Thank heavens for that, had one from yourselves a few months ago and quality was top notch!

Alright folks, I'm stuck. Could someone give me a helping hand?

Got me KVM. I'm mounting the ISO through Dacentec's virtual media like so:

Power cycled the box, turned it off, turned it back on, et cetera. Keep getting stuck on this:

    Any idea? :-)

Have you added the KVM to your boot order?

My new server is up. Two 2TB drives are ST2000DM001 with power_on_hours of 3.5 years and 4.5 years, and four 1TB are WD1002FBYS each with power_on_hours of 5.25 years. Decided to set up RAID to avoid loss if one dies of old age. RAID-1 on the 2TB, RAID-5 on the 1TBs (5TB total)

  • Missed this freaking good deal, even if the drives are older ones,
hope it will come back later on :-P

Good for backups, owncloud or plex stuff
