Ah. Probably should have asked that before picking up one of the new models.
This is a great offer! I just ordered one "Supermicro 6-bay Opteron 1385 8GB 2x2TB Rent Only Special (Bonus 4TB FREE)" at $25/mo, and will cancel my Dacentec "Opteron 1356 2x2TB" which I was paying $20/mo. It's a slight CPU upgrade, and 4TB more storage.
I will use as a database and app development, staging, and backup machine, so the 8TB total storage (if not using RAID mirroring) will be useful! Thanks!
By the way, anyone concerned that they use old hardware and not sure whether this will work for your needs, they do offer a 7-day moneyback guarantee if you don't like it. This is according to http://wiki.dacentec.com/index.php?title=FAQ (search for "We provide refund up to 7 days after the order is placed" on that page)
This the one I looking for, @Nekki? Supermicro 6-bay Opteron 1356 8GB 2x2TB Rent Only Special (Bonus 4TB FREE)
Yar
Fuck you all. Why not..
I've potentially got two of them now :-/
Thank you!
Sent an email to sales. Lets hope you guys do it for me then. The current disks are damn slow. I havent used the server much due to its slowness.
They can probably refund your last order and upgrade your current server.
I don't need it I don't need it I don't need it. I NEEEEEEED IT cries Are there any issues running deb 8 or higher?
@Nekki had a little PayPal balance so only "paid" 15 quid which is fairly neat. 8T? for 20 quid a month is neat.
Indeed...
Operating System Centos 6 - 64 Bit
Fuck. Are these a bitch to reinstall? I didn't see an OS option when ordering :-S
CentOS 6, do I pick 32 or 64 bit
We have an automated OS provisioning system that makes it pretty easy. If your server hasn't been deployed yet you can open a ticket with sales and they can update your OS for you in the order.
Any plans for 4x2TB HDD instead of 2x2TB + 4x1TB?
I would rather RAID 10 the whole thing for like 30 bucks a month.
Sure, thanks. Is the bandwidth on these incoming + outgoing? :-)
Server delivered, let's check dem disks.
WOW - I just one of the 1385 at the last min - I need storage bad.. all gone now.........
>
Actually, not half bad for this price except maybe the 45k ones :-)
Not be at all, leaving mine to install Debian for the night.
Let's see if it installs or will I be asking for kvm again.
Pretty good. These guys are amazingly pleasant to speak with. Their support beats many companies around.
I've asked for the other server to be upgraded.
16TB for $50 is fucking mental.
fuck you.. Did you end up buying that "monster server" you opened the thread about? You're supposed to be cutting costs >:D
you can become the next DROPBOX....lol
That's still in progress, need to plan it out because I've got a lot of data to shift about. Reminds me, I need to update the thread...
>
I imagine you got some very nice deals..
Pretty amazing. I wish I could by them all, but sadly not.
That online.net 2x3TB is deffo getting binned now.
I guess this server'll be the start of my "fuck unlimited Google Drive" transfer - need to stop using it.
Same question.
Also same.
