Dasabo blocked all customer accounts and is now forcing KYC

Today, Dasabo suddenly blocked all of their customers' accounts and is forcing everyone to complete KYC..
Honestly, I think this is a risk with these companies when you're asked to send them your personal documents and information..
No matter how much they think they need to protect themselves from customers, you also have every right to protect yourself from them..
What happens if one of their support staff doesn't get paid and decides to dump all those documents and personal information online? We've seen things like this happen before..
And if I remember correctly, there was also an incident with this company where someone from their support team stole random amounts from customers' Visa and Mastercard cards that were linked to their accounts..
So what are we supposed to expect next?
You're asking customers to trust you with some very sensitive information, but trust goes both ways..
And of course, we have every right to ask Dasabo for (KYB - Know Your Business) as well..
If you're asking us to verify who we are and hand over sensitive documents, it's only fair that we can verify who we're dealing with too..

Oh das-a-blow!
LOL LMAO
are you forced to stay with Dasabo? sounds like you really dont like this decision.
Lmao you remembered right. Didn't they create a pity poll then rage quit LET after that incident?

cancel any recurring billing and move to another host..
This is gonna be an interesting discussion with them; without pointing out which regulations are saying they have to do this, I won't send out a copy.
I'm dutch, and dutch law says that it is only allowed for a few situations/organisations to send out an unaltered image of your identity documents. Others have to see if there are other ways to do KYC and even if they don't have, they can only have an altered image (i.e. without photo of the holder). Stripe procedure especially requires that photo, so it's a no-go for me - even if Dasabo comes up with a good excuse to do KYC.
The blocking of the account is also an interesting one, because they deliberately prevent you from having access to your account, so you can't go into discussion through a ticket. And the sent out mail is from a no-reply address.
Good thing I did not renew my servers.
Got it as well. I guess they are trying to get rid of low-end customers. Well, bye bye
Didn’t they do ultra cheap that now at the time of rising costs won’t be cost effective ?
They did yep and now raised the prices like x3 in some cases.
Crazy move nowadays.
That becomes a hard situation, at times costs have increased and a provider may need to up the prices but here are worried to do it even a small amount because of the “name and shame” culture.
I know some providers will go over the top with price hikes but there is also a fair point when eg power has increased in recent years by the levels it has in certain countries too.
True, name and shame culture exists to just put pressure on the host to get cheap deals. Some hosts take it seriously, some just chill. I think in this particular situation, apart from how they made drama 'should we stay on let', introducing mandatory KYC for all customers is kinda very meh step.
Yeah, they blocked my account too and are asking for verification through Stripe, even though I didn’t even use that payment method. It’s time to leave this company. I wonder if a refund for the remaining balance is possible, or if I’ll have to file a complaint with the EU regulator over unreturned funds?
The fun part begins, when you refuse to KYC, they suspend your service and keep your money.
