This is a bullahit message from a loser who can't keep a job. DartNode has my passport and a live face ID. Don't act like anyone who is complaining is a mjj. I'm a US resident who is an excellent customer. I don't cause any problems at all, but they have shut my account down due to abuse.
Let's unpack things a bit.
You don't know me... but I shall respond to your entitled accusation with this: right now I work, I have a job — thank you for your attention on this matter.
You must have given it to them. Good for you, I guess.
MJJs also live in US, not just in a single country or a single place.
That... I shall refrain from commenting on your case because I am not the provider in this case, nor do I know the intrinsic details of your services or your account. But I must point out that you felt quite offended by my statement, even though it was not pointed to you directly! And what does this say about tough skin?! You guessed it.
The fuck? Why do they have that? Half the MJJ's around here are US residents btw. Also.. I've followed your case in IMHO its the most ridiculous case of this whole sale and your complaint is justified.. but the guy wasn't talking about you specifically as far as I can tell.

The CPU doesn't look oversold, but that IOPS are extremely low for some reason.
You acted like anyone complaining about this provider is full of shit and chose to act like the provider is without fault at all. I have provided evidence more than sufficient that DartNode is the problem, not me. I take your message as a personal attack, so I'll respond with an ad hominem myself. You should limit your messages to your experience with a provider and not suggest that anyone with a problem is lying or exaggerating.
Yep, not sure if something is going on with the underlying HDD array, or if it is just 3 SD-cards in a trench coat.
Probably why @yoursunny made this: https://github.com/yoursunny/freaky-fast-digital-coma
My case is fucking bullshit. I'm tired of users that don't have problems acting like everything is fine and DartNode is super cool. I provided my passport and face ID because I'm not interested in abusing their infrastructure.
IDK anything about @deafcon's case, but I had a similar networking issue where 1 ip appeared to be resolving to two vps hosts issue with a different provider. (host key would change)
I reported the issue to them via support ticket and shutdown my VM. And they replied within 5 hours and got me a new ip.
And for those asking why they have his passport and live video, he must have triggered ID verification, I saw it pop-up for me as well. I believe whatever vendor they use claims they delete the data immediately finishing verification.
My IOPS are even worse tbh. Not complaining as it's free but I sure do hold better servers for below 10/y.
Lets see where this goes. Sure can think of a use for it!
BREAKING NEWS: I did not mention you. I did not target you. It is not all about you. The world does not spin around you. And you're not the most important person of your life.
Feel free to have a different opinion though. MJJs do too.
Great!
🥱 Would be 100% better if you process tickets instead of yapping here on this forum. Thanks!
I believe that users here should be a group that keep providers honest. It's clear from your signature that you'll sell your asshole for anyone who is willing to pay to fill it.
People just being spoiled past couple of years. Highend hosts been offering deals with low-end pricing.
At 10-12/y people should really expect slow support, no A grade hardware and have a backup plan.
Its kinda a gamble. If you need peace of mind, up the budget
Thank you very much for noticing my lovely signature. I must admit though that it was not my idea; I actually took it from FAT32 (credit where credit is due) and adapted it to my case.
Reasoning as to why (to answer your "asshole" argument): providers come here with very cheap offers for the members (or bots) of this fine community — the least I can do is offer some advertising for them.
@deafcon just let it go. Don't let sunk cost push you into sinking more. Tell them to refund and move on. It's pretty obvious they are in not just a little over their head, which was kinda obvious right from the start but oh well...
Besides that i guess people mostly got what they bargained for. Some a bit more, some a bit less. "Play stupid games, win stupid prices..." that's how you say it, right?
Further i really don't understand the massive white knighting either. Yeah, some people got a bunch of cheap stuff and for some it also actually works but the overall organization is just total garbage... no amount of cheap is going to change that.
Agreed. You're 100% correct. I rolled the dice on this deal and I lost. I've processed chargebacks on 4 out of 5 VPS. I had an issue with my main CC attempting to pay for one, so I paid with another CC, so I'll submit that chargeback later. I'll be a wart on DartNode's future offers and that is it.
For the record, I have no particular need for DartNode's services. their Orlando POP was very interesting for my personal projects, but I would never have said a word if issue resolution was just slow. I draw the line a shutting down my account because they can't manage their own network though. You screamed like a banshee when Velox charged your CC without the right to do so, I liken my problem to that.
Exactly! If the deal is not right, then the deal is not right. One should simply move on, or move away, when the service is not right. For mistakes there are tools like refunds and chargebacks.
At the end of the day is not the fault of some employees (trying to work and survive nowadays) when some manager is greedy and organises deals that their company can't handle. It is quite obvious this whole event was poorly managed by the management (not by the employees), but it is not the fault of some employees who really tried their best with the little resources they had. Many times the management is very greedy and bits more than it can chew hiding behind a "can do" attitude.
My guess is that when all this dust will get settled, the manager will run away by selling the business and come up with some new great venture again. He did fail in his past endeavours, and will likely do it again. However, this would be a good outcome, because there could also be a bad outcome of summer host — hopefully this won't happen because I don't want to see more people without work in our times which in theory should be defined as modern.
I can confirm. I have a similar issue. When the VPS is powered off, it still responds to ping and SSH shows different hostkey. After turning on it goes back to normal. Happens both on IPv6 and IPv4.
I’d wager a lot of this was self inflicted by DartNode - snazzy art work, pressure to jump in to avoid missing a “deal” coupled with ordering difficulties, communication issues and slow as molasses support. They could have hired or forced all hands on deck. The business hours for the engineering tickets are certainly a bottleneck… why not extend their hours, etc etc
This support issue has plagued them for years based on a quick search… I wish I searched that before buying, that’s on me.
I cannot fathom how a provider who appeals or is supposed to appeal to more than a hobbyist (they claim a global network, “high performance”, for developers, etc” has such a painful support process that has not improved. Take a look at their recent blog, from March of this year and if this is the improvement, I wonder how it was last year.
Personally, all but one of my purchases has been charged back already… PayPal is slow on this one but I’d imagine it’ll be addressed. I gave them a week, and moved on.
And you're totally right. That's where I would draw the line as well. It was not directed at you tbh.
Velox is a totally different matter though. That's an obvious scam and proven to be stealing from people. We all know dartnode is pretty low-end if you followed their past sales. Always the same issues. Same with delux. They just trying very hard to make it. They might, they may not. Its a gamble.
Hello there
We do care about your case, and I've been spending my time digging into it and asking the abuse team to review it again.
What I can say is that the system didn't randomly pick your account. One of the VPSs on it was involved in activity targeting other servers on the network (DDoS), and we have logs showing that. Whether that was you personally, someone who gained access to your VPS, or some vulnerable service that got exploited, I genuinely don't know, and I'd rather not jump to conclusions.
Personally, I'd like to believe you weren't directly involved. The way you've been discussing this publicly doesn't strike me as someone knowingly running this kind of activity. That said, if a VPS under your account ends up being used for abuse, even by a third party, it still becomes your responsibility to some extent because we have to protect other customers on the network as well.
Try to look at it from the perspective of the customers who were being targeted. They would also expect us to take action once we have evidence that a service is involved in abusive activity.
As I mentioned, I've already asked for another review of the case. I can't promise what the outcome will be, but I'll make sure it gets looked at properly. If the review finds something in your favor, great. If it doesn't, I hope you'll understand that the decision was based on the evidence available and not because anyone was trying to ignore your side of the story.
That's about as much as I can do from my side for now
You do know that your services allow IP Spoofing, right? Right?
You're legit acting like I did something that allowed someone else access to the resources you provided me? Get out of here. You guys are a joke.
You did read the part where he goes on about his VPS randomly changing it's SSH host keys? His theory of the IP being assigned twice really isn't far fetched here but instead of addressing that you give him this generic "if it wasn't you personally then it was someone who hacked your box" drivel? Is Dartnode somehow in the business of aggravating people on purpose?
In any case i have a very one sided opinion on who i think is making a believable impression here. Spoiler alert: It's not Dartnode.
Yeah, i have tears dropping into my coffee as i'm reading this...
Just leave the guy alone. He wasted enough of his time and all your doing is trying to trick him into wasting more. If you'd offer to refund voluntarily that would be at least something but this is just a metric fuckton of shit and i'm being extremely nice here.
Show care by process tickets? NO?
Wut?
