@alexvolk this depends. my regional ovh said its a limit per model not per any ks server. I mentioned Oles tweet, they said I should still get 3xks2g 2xks16g 1xks4g. at least they were not going to cancel the orders in the regional site, but who knows what happens when they start deployment or when is the next renewal time.

    Thanked by 1alexvolk
  • this was a polish scam, admit it.

  • I wonder, has anyone recorded at what exactly moment/date this and other Kimsifi offers became available only to EU citizens?

  • xsetxset Member

@master_bo this depends which regional website you were looking at. It doesnt seem to matter to Ovh, they simply cancel all non-EU orders. They really dont give a thing about their PR. They have enough customers already they can do whatever they want and as the emails say your order depends on availability of stock and verification of order. That clause gives them the freedom to do whatever they want with the specs.

  • @xset I was looking at ovh.com. I know they don't care about their reputation. Funny thing is they first requested my IDs photo, and only after that informed me they don't serve my country :) Well, actually I am just curious. At least they have support staff that communciates with me in my native language and is quite polite.

  • xsetxset Member

@master_bo Yeah the regional offices are ok for talking to customers, but they dont really communicate from the HQ to regional sites. They even had not received more instruction about the 3 server limit. There is some confusion around HQ/mr boss and their employees. Oles was saying you can only get 3 of any new KS servers, but that was not what the regional office said to me today. And my orders havent been cancelled yet.

  • @xset Well, I am getting some popcorn and watch the drama developing :)

  • xsetxset Member

@master_bo welcome to the club ;) I'll be happy if I receive any of the KSxGs I ordered;) There's luckily Paypals 45 day dispute time so I give them max that time to deliver and sort out this mess!

I just got the following mail from OVH:

    `2013-07-29 17:33:27

    My Name and Address

    Dear Customer,

We confirm the payment of your order.

You can view your Invoice FR8x payment by copying or clicking on the following link:

    https://www.ovh.com/fr/cgi-bin/order/bill.cgi?reference=x

    https://www.ovh.com/fr/cgi-bin/order/facture.pdf?reference=y
    (PDF version)

Please note you can find the invoices in the Manager, under Administration and My Invoices.

    Thank you for your order.

    OVH Customer Support

    From Monday to Friday: 8am - 8pm
    Saturday: 9am- 5.30pm`

Wow..their confirmation came a full three days after payment, and two days after they cancelled it. That must be one of the slowest mail servers I've ever seen. ;)

They are not able to keep up with any server deliveries at the moment. Soon it has been 48 hours since ordering mini-sps. Ovh didnt want to bother the technicians about this because of the huge KS2g demand. There is no SLA for server delivery times, they do it when they can do it. Expect any bigger companies be pissed about the service delivery times this week. This can take weeks to solve. I dont think they can install hundreds servers/day at GRA location as its new DC and understaffed. Its been operational for three months, with what staff??, I dont know, but Oles is more interested in expanding to BHS2 and Germany at the moment. This was nothing more than a PR stunt.

    This explains it:

Ovh We don't buy the servers, we build them from scratch. Here, we use the laser not for 100G but to cut .. pic.twitter.com/LdWGjDWvnN

I got the same. They have officially cancelled the order and sent in invoice. Refund will follow I suppose.

2,99 instead of 9,99 explains it.

That's not new. OVH communicates that and even made a video about that half a year ago:

I think they have 50 technicians employed at the new DC. Given each one assembles a machine in 15 minutes, assuming a 8 hour working day for each and assuming there aren't any delays in getting the parts then that's 1600 servers built per day.

Hey guys. I know OVH is busy with their orders and stuff, but do you think they've canceled my order. I've ordered from ovh.com/fr/ on the 28th of July. I'm from EU, they've taken money from my Paypal account, but the status is "Pending". I have no invoice in my manger panel. The page says " Nous vérifions manuellement votre paiement" which I think means something about manual check of the payment. I've contacted support about the problem but they haven't responded yet.

  • xsetxset Member

@ska news to me ;) video said they build 7000 servers/month, thats about 320/day (business days). So they had 1000 in stock with 5000 orders they have to build 4000 servers for KS2G, Since they have also other servers to build, lets say they build 200 KS/day, its going to take 4 weeks to build all ks2g servers... Not 10 days as they claim.

Taking into consideration breaks and repairs. You might end up with the 1000 Servers a day that OVH communicated. So it fits. They are simply overrun by orders. And since their entire system is build upon their own server set-up they simply need some time to build the other servers.

Well, I guess they can do 1000 servers a day, if they have 50 technicians on site as @sc754 said. And I presume that they had a look in the past to see how much servers they sold when they made new offers. So I guess they're just overrun.

Meh, went ahead and filed a PayPal dispute. It's my way of saying "thanks." I know it was the weekend, but I didn't make them cancel my order, change their policy, and then bail for a few days without saying a word to me about it. If I cost them an extra 2 minutes in their day, I made my point.

Do we get billed from signup or go live?
If 10 days is true then that would be 6.25% downtime for a 3month contract (based on the 24hr order timeframe)....

@jarland let us know how it progresses, and on actually getting the refund. It might very well be faster via a dispute, e.g. I just got today two mails of "Your invoice has been paid", i.e. they didn't even begin to refund me yet, it just took them all this time till today to even notice that I paid them something!!! (on Thursday).

@ska video said 7000 servers in november delivered, where do they say 1000 servers/day? Even though it takes 15 minutes to build one, I dint think they had the parts for 4000 new machines. It can take 3 days to get the parts at least. Also they will run each server at least 5 hours for testing... This was the lowest number of hours a delivered ks2g had its hdd run on..

That might be true, though. I just concentrated on the 15min/server and the 50 workers and a normal shift with breaks and repairs.

So did I, two days ago, when the word "Cancelled" appeared in the panel. I'd bought three, two via Paypal, and one via a Credit card. Paypal dispute was filed. The CC chargeback apparently has a small fee, so I'm holding out on it, until later.

:) I don't mind the wait... just not keen on paying for time where the server is not even built yet!

But in November they didn't have such low prices, so they'd have built fewer. True about the parts though, but when you think about the hdd testing. They won't test them one at a time, they will be testing them in batches you would expect.

@xset @sc754 I found another video for their BHS location. They also build the servers in Canada for their location on site

I still wonder if any supplier in France or Europe had 4000 Motherboards for Atoms lying around, they'll use any MBs for Atoms/Celerons that they can get and lowered the number of cores to make it cheaper... Only the first 1000 orders might get the dual core CPU, rest is still unclear.
