Bah Free VPS. Why use it for production server? If I were you, I would use it for monitoring purpose (even though I doubt how good it will be ). Hell it is free :P

I saw their TOS and it isn't mentioned anywhere. Can we use it to just backup our files (using simple FTP)?
If yes, free 10GB backup service! I only need around 5GB (after 7zipped) to backup my application / web project though.
Oh, even if its only 128MB ram, we got 640MB Vswap. Too bad the CPU freq only 2 cores 266 mhz...

You probably got a centos one. For low memory get debian. Or reinstall with debian.

128 mb memory shouldn't have an issue with Centos. I have a vps 128 mb (host1free), and run well using Centos. I only use Nginx and PHP5 (fpm) without database/MySQL.
yum had some isues with a module everytime i try to update erase or install app it stopped throw an error i dont remember,
now i installed debian, first run it used 6 mb.., i did aptget update && apt-get upgrade(yum is shorter to write thats why i like centos..says noob) while update proccess my connection lost, and memory loaded around 50-55 , i did ps aux, see that named using 6mb mem. killed it merciless, mem usage went down to 22 mb, i rebooted now mem usage 55mb and named is there and sucking my mem. (i must write a noobs blog)
to remove named do apt-get remove bind9.
Unless you need it somehow.

when you are running yum on low memory systems, disable plugins in /etc/yum.conf
This way i was able to run yum update even on 32+32MB vps. Hope this helps.
also kill whatever process you can before trying.

You can try using minstall script to stripdown debian installation. Im on mobile. Just google: maxexcloo minstall

I just signed up for one of these accounts as well. I setup a small wordpress blog with the stats, and am gathering stats on uptime. These are not high performers, but they could be good for developement/testing, or just having some fun playing with.

Agreed, this is defiantly not something that I would consider for a production application. It is not bad though for being able to test out new configurations/code.
it had better speed before and i doubt the decrease is due to abuse, more like a reduction from owners.
Even so, it is enough to learn and test things.
