    you checked your spam folder?

I did, they had to re-send it after two of my emails actually. First it seems they didn't send, next time, it arrived.

Anyway, am I doing something wrong or you can't upload files via FTP for Smart Cloud Server?

I keep getting 550 Access is denied error... and I need help.

Well, I do make an entry:
Username: Aruba Account for Control Panel
Password: Aruba Password sent in email
    Host: ftp1.dc2.computing.cloud.it
    Port: 21

However, there is not even single directory when I enter (which might be okay since it's new account/server) and I can only create directories, but can't upload files.

  • wladymeer said: can only create directories, but can't upload files.

    It's only for .iso-s I think

  • that's what I thought as well... and that perfectly explains $1/month...

is there a way for me to "download" this specific file for Debian 7 64bit?

I tried wget from original link (https://sites.google.com/) but it says it's not trusted

  • probably I am not getting it...

are you talking about an ftp server on your VM or the additional ftp service with 50GB free space?

for the latter you can upload only .iso files as @GM2015 did mention...

the official wheezy 64bit netinst iso is mostly not on sites.google.com, but maybe this:
    http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/archive/7.9.0/amd64/iso-cd/debian-7.9.0-amd64-netinst.iso

I apologize if I sound confusing, I'm not 100% into this...

Simply put, I made one Cloud Server (Smart), and I wanted to put one .tar.gz file on it. I thought I had to activate FTP service for that. But, now I'm not sure if I'm supposed to upload anything with this service.

  • IIRC, FTP service is only for uploading custom OS images, and it is not available for the Smart plan, only for Pro.

@kingpin: Okay, lets reverse the question:

I need to upload one .tar.gz file - is it possible for Smart plan and how to do it?

I just logged in to http://assistance.arubacloud.com/Main/Default.aspx to fire a ticket (not related to the problem you mentioned), and noticed there's a News section.

Looks like there was some DDoS recently.

so that has nothing to do with the FTP service you can use from within their control panel!

as you booked an unmanaged service you have to setup your cloud server with a working OS of your choice (debian/centos/etc.) and after that you may upload a file via winscp or choose to setup an ftp server software on it (like proftpd/vsftpd/etc.)

remember: this it not like shared hosting, were everything is preconfigured. it is an unmanaged server which can and have to setup to your needs but all by yourself!

probably you want to have a look into some kind of control panel to manage your VM with like webmin or vestacp (which indeed you have to install before you can use it)

or better go back to shared hosting, as it seems to me you kind of misunderstood what service you purchased there and how to handle it ;-) (no offense meant)

    Thanked by 1wladymeer
  • No offense taken, I'm using such service once in two years so I know I can get dizzy ;)

I had to choose SFTP protocol, so I can upload files I need now, thanks!

  • Solid performer in my collection I have moved all my production servers which utilize under 1 GB of RAM to @arubacloud

DE,UK,FRA,IT1 are the best IMO and CZ is not that bad for that location
