On your server, desktop or laptop, what OSs do you love and run?

I'm thinking of switching to Elementary Linux, but everyone knows LET has a better opinion ;)

I was running Ubuntu on everything however I switched desktop and laptops back to Windows, using 10 at the moment. Purely because I was spending too much time on Ubuntu making software work that I really needed whilst over at Windows everything was just as I needed it.

Aside from my Macbook Air I of course use OSX.

Same here. Some simply things like WiFi were just a pain in Ubuntu (which was likely hardware-related, even though the machine was Ubuntu certified), not even mentioning hybrid graphics.

My solution is Windows 10 with a big-ass Ubuntu VM for stuff like terminal and linux-only tools. Works like a charm to be honest.

  • Debian on all servers (except the cPanel one) and OS X/iOS on everything that is not a server.

  • Desktop: Mint 17.2

    Servers: Debian

    Tablet: Cyanogenmod nightlies

  • Laptop: Windows 10*

VPS's: Usually CentOS 6, sometimes CentOS 7. In LowEndSpirit I use Debian 7.5 I think.

    * I use Cygwin to use Linux command line commands in Windows, mainly for grep, cat, nano, rm and a few others. I don't like Windows commands :P

  • My Desktop PC: Windows 7 Professional SP1

    My Laptop: Windows 10 Pro

    My VPS: CentOS 6

  • win10 on laptop for gaming, the rest are either xubuntu or centos for vps/servers

    Gaming desktop: Win 8.1

    Laptop/tablet: Win 10

    Servers: Debian <3

  • Debian/Ubuntu (if desktop)

Got 1 windows RDP as a "just in case" and one windows laptop for Jailbreaking (wtf? Jailbreaking is for Apple devices however most JB tools usually support windows first and rarely linux)

  • My laptop runs Ubuntu 14.04 and all of my servers run either ubuntu / debian

  • Laptop: Xubuntu

    Servers: Debian

  • Desktop: Windows 7

    Laptop: Ubuntu 14.04

VPSes: Mostly Debian (7 or 8), two Ubuntu 14.04s

  • Desktop PC: Debian "Jessie" 8.1.0

    Raspberry Pi B: Raspbian UA-Netinstall - https://github.com/debian-pi/raspbian-ua-netinst

Servers: CentOS 6.7 and Debian "Jessie" 8.1.0

Have u looked at https://github.com/oblique/create_ap It works flawlessly on any linux based operating system. And the default primus that comes with nvidia drivers are good enough with multiple gpu's. I am not sure about ATI cards though.

I'm not having issues creating access points. I'm having issues connecting to any WiFi network because the Network Manager crashes upon selecting a network. It's related to the WiFi chip. While I could have worked my way around it, it just isn't worth the hassle for me. It's worked fine on several non-certified systems but it's broken on the certified HP notebook I have. That tells me to give up on it.

Same with the hybrid graphics. Works like a charm on a non-certified machine but is a pain on the certified notebook. With some configurations it won't even boot a graphic interface.
