So it has now been a year since this crazy offer went live and I'm curious: how are those very old hard disks doing?

I got 3 servers and none of them died yet, although surprisingly one of the hard disks was delivered nearly new.

And for those not so lucky... how long did it take them to replace?

    Thanked by 1netomx
  • @Nyr Got 5 of them, zero dead drives. On the heaviest used one: 375 days uptime, drive is constantly being hammered all day (mostly read heavy, but a good amount of swapping).. no issues. Not the fastest drive but no issues thus far.

  • I've got two running since day 1 and they work quite well. Never had any downtime :) got fairly old disk though.

  • Just went over 5 years (43908 hours) on my hdd and there have been no issues.

If you mean for the 2euro server, then no, it's not valid anymore.

Disk on one out of three servers have started to have serious problems, it has been replaced in about an hour.

/me likes his server. New but running like a charm.

  • One of my kidechires initially had a bad hard-disk but the server got swapped pretty fast after opening a ticket.

Do you get 500gb swapped hdd?

I didn't. They replaced the whole server, I got a new IP and another pretty old 160gb disk, but this one is running fine for a year now, aswell as the other 2 kidechires.

  • mehargags said: is this offer still valid ? I went to this link and it says

No, the offer is not still valid, it is slightly more expensive now but, still, with lower price than the competition. The link you provided is not the right one, it is for a complete different server.
    Use this one:
    http://www.online.net/en/dedicated-server/dedibox-scg2
(there are setup fees unfortunatelly, 20€, but there is a better and bigger hard drive)

  • As of my 3 kidechires, they are working fine for the whole year now! No hdd failures, no network failures, a lot of testing, a lot of OS on them, even proxmox worked nicely!

  • Can I somehow transfer it to another account?

  • @bersy said:

You can't transfer. Wait for 20th of month, ussually they sell limited edition include kide.

  • Anyone shares I/O test plz
