  • Ordered one a few mins ago.. hasn't been delivered yet :(

  • Rumours that Kimsufi are soon moving to billing clients at the 1st of the month.

I have been getting a different French email for a while now that wants me to sign up for automatic renew. I haven't received a normal invoice bill.

  • Although they are currently showing the KS-1 as a D425 you can still get the N2800 (in fact I just did). The D425 and the N2800 have different product IDs, what the Kimi Checker sites calls the KS1-V2 (D425) and KS1-V1. So if you check the url for the N2800 you can still get these when there is stock as there has been several times today.

depends highly on the DC, if its in France chances are you will still get a N2800 but in BHS chances are higher that it will most likely show up with a D425.

  • Still waiting on delivery for the BHS KS1 I ordered this morning, got an email that they received payment and will let me know when it's ready. Could've possibly oversold the offer and I'll be waiting awhile for stock..

So yeah, my first bill with their new autorenewal scheme just got paid via the Paypal subscription.

They are aligning all expiration dates (hence the prorated invoice), so that from now on all charges will be on the last day of the month.

Also you can't cancel by simply stopping paying anymore, now if you want to cancel at the end of a given month, you need to click the "Cancel" button in their panel before the 20th.

  • This is a surprise from Kimsufi, a few hours ago I try to reinstall one of my idle KS-1 and it stuck when the installer trying to reboot it, after third attempt they email me if they will replace the HDD with new one since the HDD is broken. Waiting for 20 minutes, I am reinstall it again, check the HDD power on hours and I got 1 hour old disk but the most surprising me the HDD is not 500GB but its 2 TB. So now I got fresh 2 TB HDD for my KS-1:

anyone knows a way I can make my hdd fail ? :p

  • @camarg said:

    A lucky man :)

At first I don't even notice it since the installer still said 500GB but when executing fdisk -l after OS installation I got this result:

    Disk /dev/sda: 2000.4 GB, 2000398934016 bytes
    255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 243201 cylinders
    Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
    Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
    I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
    Disk identifier: 0x000e560f

So I have around 1500GB free space, reinstall it again and only creating 2 partition, root partition -> 20GB, swap -> 2GB, creating my third partition manually, go to rescue mode and mount it on /var. Pretty hard time on this part since it always fail on boot but its selinux problems, disable it and done:

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
    /dev/sda1 * 1 2611 20970496 83 Linux
    /dev/sda2 2611 2872 2096128 82 Linux swap / Solaris
    /dev/sda3 2872 243201 1930443360+ 83 Linux

Similar with their account validation procedure but the email subject e.g. "VAT Removal".

Perhaps they saw I use their .ovh domain from the panel (reverse DNS).

I'm going to get an .ovh domain and will try to abuse the HDD :P

  • I am planning to get two KS-4s, I know it is at least i5-3570s in Canada, but how is in France? I heard some got the same, so how possibly is it?

  • Just picked up a KS-1 N2800 in RBX.

Is it the norm that these are available now?

I seem to remember previously looking for days on end with no luck whatsoever!

    Well, I wouldn't pay 12€/mon for it.

    I am confused :/

    I wouldn't either.

The clue is in the thread title - "Kimsufi.... 4.99 euro dedicated server"

  • Picked up the KS-2. Got assigned N2800 in Gravelines(GRA).
But that sweet sweet 2TB storage on a 1500hr Hitachi enterprise disk! :D
Perfect, since I don't have to worry about sudden infant mortality like one has to, with super-shiny-new HDDs.

What? I had to post in the forum to ask to have my hard drive replaced. Post on friday morning, response on Tuesday -> not the product for me.
Would have been great if they had replaced it so quickly.

Post on their forum is almost useless, so I just try to reinstall and reinstall, show them if its always fail, they must have some kind of monitoring tools and if you stand up they will show you :)
