And yes I would terminate them, because porn of ANY KIND, legal OR illegal, is not allowed to be hosted on our network.

Wow, didn't realise you guys were that ridiculous. Sorry.

Why doesn't GVH just give the customer their service back? It seems like his intention was not to maliciously attack anyone.

CC just gave you some advice, something tells me you won't follow this as quickly as you did before.

  • @HardCloud I was just eating some popcorn actually, I've got more!

    Golden quote.

Also, note how my post(s) with proof about how, with ColoCrossing panel access, you can EASILY manage null-routes have been ignored by the accused? I do love me some drama.

  • OkieDoke said: Provide me a quote from this thread that clearly shows his intention was to 'DoS' another host.

You need a quote of him explicitly saying his intentions in order to believe it?

It was around these forums where it was pointed out that this guy was abusing some other host. I'm don't want to make the effort.

  • @jbiloh
is there any chance you could talk to some of your people, and get us a copy of this complaint ?
i know you had nothing to do with this, but there are many of us here interested in seeing if this thing really exists or not.
    thanks in advance.

  • jbiloh said: Why doesn't GVH just give the customer their service back?

Because, if the customer uses the 100TB, $5 wouldn't cover the bandwidth overage.

Though the whole "I'm going to use 100 TB and then request my money back" routine doesn't seem so nice.

I didn't think this was an option but since I have your OK,

I reactivated shovenose's VPS and sent over the VPS info email to him, and also reset his bandwidth counter. @shovenose since @jbiloh said it's OK, feel free to continue your attempt at using 100TB BW, we won't shut you down. Enjoy.

    LOL. Good job.

Thanks GVH. Now, could you please set the bandwidth counter to 1.66TB so I can continue where I left off?

No it's fine, I reset it to 0. Consider it a gift.

Hey shovey :D? can I use your speed test file over and over again? :D?

  • @LV_Matt

    can you confirm or deny:
did you; HostDime send a complaint to ColoCrossing over the downloading of your speedtest files ?

  • @shovenose I think you should change your method of "proof of concept". You might as well win an iPad ;)

I think in the end the joke is that the colo/network provider will just null route the ip address again because @GreenValueHost does not care your using bandwidth like that but the provider is seeing a pattern which is like DOS and will close it down. if @shovenose owned the server where the file was being downlaoded from then this would be resolved easily..... Next time the DC compalin its just expliain a legimit use case

  • This thread has kept me entertained all day. Gold Jerry. Gold.

It was entertaining for sure but does anyone else just kind of cringe and feel sort of "bad" for all that wasted bandwidth? Just because.... ? /shrug

Sure - but the speedtest VPS running speedtest.shovehost.com is actually turned off right now.

Is there a current offer for GVH? I'd like a yearly, please. Specs don't matter much. Just want to monitor it for a year or so. Minimal transfer involved. Will report back.

q_q why is your website down?

  • @Mun - We're working on it.

That's the problem when you have a 1gbit pipe but you have a bunch of VPS users all trying to use it all. Doh.

I'd recommend placing some sort of reasonable throttling on the machines, like 500-700 mbit so that a single user can't constantly exhaust the port causing packet loss for all their neighbors.

  • MunMun Member

    @jbiloh there wasn't a abuse ticket was there... :(

Also, do you guys do single server colocations?

    @GreenValueHost

Or just by more gbits, it's not that expensive on ColoCrossing; and as a bonus: You get more bandwidth too!

If you're using SolusVM though.. good luck with channel bonding, you're going to run into more headache than you'd ever want.

The math is still totally cringe worthy on this entire offer. GVH will learn.

Multiple DDoS attacks. They're on seperate physical servers and no client services are affected, just our www.shovehost.com site is down for now.

We'll be selling single server colocation @ ColoCrossing's buffalo facility for somewhere between $30-40/m once CC sets up our latest cabinet space

We'll look into upgrading all of our ports as soon as we can as well.

will we be able to see a copy of it ?

What issues arise? The bond should be linked to the bridge, why would SolusVM care about the bond?

  • I was getting these as well yesterday.. (the downtime), support answers just make me laugh.
