Gamble and buy another one to see if you get 1g up and down

    For 1% chance.🥲

  • Bought 2x KS-1 and 1x KS-LE-1.

Got lucky on KS-1's and got 2TB in each, so 4TB of remote offsite storage for $12/mo

KS-LE-1 doesn't seem to be that great a deal, considering the CPU and price hike from last year, but 2x 800GB SSD isn't bad, with 32G RAM for some high RAM applications that don't require too much CPU.

What would you be using your KS servers for?

I think there might be better options for pure offsite storage. Like Hetzner Storage Box ($11 EUR for 5TB) or if you need some compute, Servarica ($84/year for 3.5TB). Both are not limited by the 100 Mbps uplink.

I would personally be interested in the SSD boxes for racing on private trackers but unfortunately the upload is not great.

  • Can you exceed the 100Mbit upload to an OVH VPS ?

  • Thanks @SteveMC. SYS-LE-1 is what I've been waiting for. Just ordered 1, hope they provision it today.

  • You can use "ECOSETUP" code to remove setup fees (for new customers)

I have the 2021 one, the CPU is
    processor : 7

    vendor_id : GenuineIntel

    cpu family : 6

    model : 62

    model name : Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-1620 v2 @ 3.70GHz

It is about 3% faster than this Intel Xeon E3-1245v2

    https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/2047vs1191/Intel-Xeon-E5-1620-v2-vs-Intel-Xeon-E3-1245-V2

    https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/18809177

How to format correctly, I forgot.
Also, did anyone test to see if the E3 supports 3d acceleration?

    That's interesting.

Another also reported the same issue as mine, from the original link the US customers couldn't order and had to re-login or something and didn't realize the code I put in went away due to that and never applied and I ended up paying all the setup fees.

Do you think they would still honor it if I asked them?

not sure, you can give it a try.

I asked them in an email. They said an agent is working on the ticket/reply. I hope they are able to do so.

It was going to some .ie domain when I tried to pay for the actual order then it asked me if I wanted to sign out to login as a new account, so I had to go in again from the .com website (where it charged me in US dollars, and slightly higher than what it said, even though the exchange rate is very close to 1:1 these days in USD to Euro, but anyway), and I forgot to notice that the code needed to be applied again.

I guess it's on me for not noticing, but I'm hoping they can honor it, as that was one of my reasons for buying, otherwise I might have gone with Hetzner this year.

    Anyway, fingers crossed.

  • It was difficult to pass up the extra storage space and new CPU over my previous SYS-LE.

    Just got one from CA.

I have an account with them and 2 servers. Apparently, after many attempts to reset my password (it said invalid ID or pass) I had to recreate the account BUT:
    1. The existing servers are not there;
    2. VAT is applied even as I am registered business in EU with a VAT number and all. The old account (same email address!!!) has no VAT charged;
    3. Even as it looks like a new account, the code does not work (to remove the setup fee).

Any idea what is going on?

  • My payment doesn't seem to go through so it's good that it's preventing me from impulse buying those offers!

  • Thank you OP! Appreciate the early heads up on some good deals. Had the 2021 KS-LE deal and it's served me well. Time to upgrade :)

    Thanked by 1SteveMC
  • How is the nvme performance of SYS-LE-1? Anyone purchased it?
