About a refund, it has probably been explained 100 times (literally) in this thread.

Same problem here on AMSD029, templates don't work and in VNC just show "Boot failed: not a bootable disk". When I try and use ISOs the VPS just shows offline after the reboot and VNC fails to connect.

  • reb0rnreb0rn Member

@VirMach looks like there is some issue with clientarea commands and amsterdam node i have two both template install nor ISO install work, VNC work and report:
hard disk: Boot failed: not a bootable disk

Can not compute, we can not login via ssh on AMS nor we can boot ISO as it refuse to turn on with the ISO mounted

Amsterdam is going to have two maintenance windows in the future, I figured I'd talk about them briefly here. One will be to move them to the permanent cabinet -- right now they are in a partial cabinet that was set up more quickly, later they'll move to their own full cabinet. The other will be to swap out the XPG drives these shipped out with (we've disabled them for now, all customers are not going to get activated on these, they are not being used.)

ISO sync is running for all Ryzen servers.

Some miscommunication with our developer, I'll try to have it resolved today. These were supposed to be able to use the migrate without data feature since it was released but I did notice last week that it wasn't the case. This was an error and not intentional.

None of these have been submitted for geolocation updates yet. This is considered less important at this time than getting everyone migrated to the nodes but it will be completed in the future.

ARIN IP addresses just mean it's a US business getting the IP addresses, and does not mean that it's a US location. Of course, I do believe US businesses can also sign up with RIPE, but the same concept applies there, it doesn't necessarily mean a RIPE IP address is only used within EU datacenter locations. I understand some people have preferences though. With that said, most of our IP addresses with the exception of those leased from xTom, are leased from US businesses and they use ARIN. xTom did not lease anything outside of a /27 for Amsterdam, and we're using the IP addresses we leased from LogicWeb for Amsterdam, the same IPv4 we originally planned on using with Psychz Amsterdam.

NYC Metro finally received IPMI access, I'm setting these up now.

That just leaves Chicago, Miami, and Frankfurt. Chicago was part of the sale but I don't know where we're at since we're trying not to use Psychz. Everyone else (presumably since they know they're actually going to provide a service) have much higher costs which is deterring us from signing on for that location since it's not very popular. I understand that some people do desire it but based on our survey data, it was one of the least popular locations for our customers and most people most likely just ended up here due to it being part of a sale.

Since you mentioned this I have to ask ... did you turn off pre-order for Chicago sometime in the past (before the pre-order sale on LET ends)? I remember when I was checking for the locations, Chicago wasn't selectable for me

@VirMach said: I understand some people have preferences though.

It's not about preference but need most of the time.

Big part of the internet will never recognize them as EU RIR IPs, and even less NL LIR IPs, so in case someone need vps in the EU to access some EU locked service (as some local services require proper LIR IPs), VPN, etc ... those most of the time won't work even after some geolocation databases update. ARIN IP will never appear in the RIPE (https://www.ripe.net) database/whois.

With IPv4 shortage more and more LET hosts use rented geolocated IPs from foreign RIRs/LIRs, so I expected this and I am not complaining, just explaining where this "preference" comes from.
