to be fair, I rarely reach even 50% of usage on any of my service. rather 10-20% with lots of breathing room. and it always takes me ages to put stuff to real use. I still have that vps 1337 from mid september waiting to be set up properly.
but thanks, you both helped me to resist and not buy again... while it's still available... and in my cart...
Personally i run a 10 dedi core netcup for some of my own stuff, including a few websites, tcadmin master node, plex, torrents and a few other things. So far it does the job perfectly. The epyc cores is performing good, and out performs dedis in the same price range. Also the 2.5gbit is great for moving torrents fast to my cloud storage, and the 2tb fast ssd is also performing good.
Nothing bad to say about netcup. Just make sure to read their cancel policies before you hit the buy button.
Buy it, you need it.
sorry for not posting yesterday. their vlan stuff isn't of interest to me at all...
todays offer is .eu domains at around 5€ per year: https://www.netcup-offers.eu/bestellen/produkt.php?produkt=2829 🤷♂️
How much you pay? What specs?
judging by the mentioning of 10c + 2TB it sounds like their RS 8000 offer: https://www.netcup-offers.eu/bestellen/produkt.php?produkt=2629
during their sales/offers you might get that one with 2 more cores at ~40€ but 6-month or yearly contract only.
Hello. Are you use torrenting without VPN? Are DE vps providers did not have problem with it?
their smaller VPS offer is back: https://www.netcup-offers.eu/bestellen/produkt.php?produkt=2830
it's definitely a lot for the money, even though it's not from their RS line, so no dedicated cores.
I already have two of those little boxes from easter and september, back then interestingly enough it was even a tad cheaper (4,56€)
seems like netcup is launching a vienna location, special offer in advent calender live now:
https://www.netcup.de/vserver/root-server-vienna/
yeah, interesting and kind of silent release in between... offer and pricing is their regular RS line, I think that's not so bad for an offer out of Austria.

https://www.netcup-offers.eue/bestellen/produkt.php?produkt=2840
https://www.netcup-offers.eue/bestellen/produkt.php?produkt=2842
dunno which peerings they have there. but netcup is part of Anexia anyway...
I guess prices will be much higher after normal sales without advent for that location
anybody grabbed their Vienna server
Yeah, I also wouldn't expect a raise. It's just an additional location, which I think is great.
quite late for an update I know, but it's just another webhosting deal today: https://www.netcup-offers.eu/bestellen/produkt.php?produkt=2831
but, following their pattern could be another good VPS/RS offer in tomorrows door then...
RS punch is here
Netcups sucks for one reason, almost all of their IPs are somewhere on blacklists and they won't replace with a clean one.
Mhh.. the current offer is kinda tempting.
yes. interesting enough that the translation for "Punsch" indeed is punch (a bowl of) ;-)
https://www.netcupoffers.eu/bestellen/produkt.php?produkt=2832
they had that offer before, it's somewhere between RS 1000 (more RAM and SSD) and RS 2000. yet I think if the reduced RS 2000 comes back it'd be even more value over just 1.50 more or so ;-)
can not confirm. at least not for the 5 IPs I have there, each from a totally different /24 btw. all clean from when I got them, so you must have been rather unlucky.
I am surprised anyone did anything bad with their servers judging by how strict they are...
But hey It happens (even with other German strict providers), I had a couple of blacklisted Hetzner servers , Everything was fine, one day they got blacklisted, then few months later they started to work fine again. So I know it wasn't me, but maybe someone on the same subnet.
I've bought RS Vienna, and got blacklisted IP again. Now I did paypal dispute and got refund, as I don't want to deal with their smartasses. Btw. their IP from Vienna displays on almost all geoDB as Germany location and that's annoying too. Better go with Alwyzon then.
Some history from 2020:
Got even inkasso for 5€ invoice because I've refused to renew server with blacklisted IP.
And if you ask a smaller company (e.g. someone from lowendtalk) to replace dirty IP that you got on order, they will replace it without drama.
that's a bummer... what blacklist are we talking about?
for the geo location I think that might change over time, but not sure. probably depends on how they distribute the IPs.
I'd also prefer to have such things as correct as possible, though obviously this depends on external databases and service a lot...
Got the RS 2000 this black friday, the IP subnet was blacklisted from outlook after 2 days, so I think it was because misuse from new customers during black friday. I waited for more than 2 weeks for the delisting but gave up and refunded. VPS was very fast though.
I doubt that you have evidence for "almost all of their IPs".
As @Falzo asked above, can you be more precise about which blacklist(s)?
I've also never had an issue with IPs from netcup being on blacklists, with the following exception: the blacklist UCEPROTECT-Level3. However, this particular blacklist, although annoying, isn't critical for most purposes, and after some days (rarely, a couple of weeks), the IP is automatically delisted from this list, so it's not such a big deal.
It's another matter if the IP that you receive has been blacklisted because that particular IP has been identified as being a source of spam, which is a more serious case.
my IP is clean
IPv4 Blacklist Check
x.x.x.x is listed on 0 out of 91 checked blacklists (report generated in 9 seconds)
@falzo I want a server in Vienna, with clean IP for mailcow (personal use) - that's what I've paid for.
But you get server with geoIP Germany and dirty IP on 2-3 blacklists.
Refund, no discussions.
yeah, I mean, especially for the RS line they offer their 14 day satisfaction blabla anyway, so should be no issue to part ways with them ;-)
OP already initiated a Paypal dispute iirc. Not sure if Netcup "likes" that, but I, too, guess it will be alright.
If the OP really initiated a PayPal dispute, then this was very probably also his last netcup server.
But why initiate a PayPal dispute when he could have simply asked for a refund? It doesn't add up.
