no it indeed had a price tag to it (the mentioned 'setup fee'). however netcup does not neccessarily invoice you directly on the order, some times it might even take 2-3 days

  • 8 cores, 48GB with 1TB anyone?
    Https://www.netcup-offers.eu/bestellen/produkt.php?produkt=2824 - freaking large box.

Looks a bit like an putloer with only 6 month contract period ;-) 30 bucks might get you a dedi too, but probsly not that type of new hardware.

  • Sold out. So fast.

  • It was a decent deal. Would have been better with more cores but a lot can be done with this setup. And the cores are dedicated...

You made typo in your link, it should be "offers" not "offer"

Only 1 domain allowed in this offer :( If they allowed at least 3 domains it would be easy buy

ah thanks and sorry for the typo, can't correctit anymore as the edit time has passed.
it can be found directly on their site anyway, by just opening the advent calendar link https://www.netcup.de/adventskalender/ and clicking the daily door ;-)

however, I always find their webhosting not the most compelling anyway, so probably won't find so many interested people anyway ;-)

  • What CP they use for webhosting?

I've never tried web hosting at netcup, so I decided to get this package today. :) An impulse purchase -- guilty as charged! :o

netcup had this web-hosting package on BF for the same price. It's a good deal (given that a .de domain is included), and I doubt that it will ever be cheaper than 0,99 € a month. :)

Edit: I see that on BF 2020 (last year), this package was offered for 0,97 € a month, but this was no doubt due to the lower VAT rate last year (due to Covid).

they had cheaper packages in the past, I have one at 0,50 a month (6€/y)
that also includes one .de but only 15GB non-ssd space or so...

    yeah, that 3% mess 🤦‍♂️

The truth is that I haven't paid much attention to netcup's web-hosting offers over the years, but the web-hosting package that you have must be from quite a while ago, no? :)

In any case, my sense is that 0,99 € a month is now the lowest possible, and they give more space (25GB SSD) for this price. :)

  • @angstrom said: must be from quite a while ago

it's called "Webhosting Bestprice Classic" and I think I grabbed during a sale sepetember last year, so actually not that old ;-)

Well, I definitely missed seeing that one! :'(

    A little research uncovers

    https://www.netcup-sonderangebote.de/webhosting/webhosting-spezial-mini-17-cent/

as probably the cheapest web-hosting offer that netcup has ever done: only 0,17 € per month, but only 1GB SSD, so somewhat limited.

  • interesting new stuff today: https://www.netcup-offers.eu/bestellen/produkt.php?produkt=2826

a twinbook... is that a thing nowadays? hardcore millenial stuff I guess.

looks quite nice though, but while I am all in for writing stuff down (like... literally... with a pen!) I think my boss wouldn't appreciate if I come across with a competitors merchandise

If I recall well, they first offered the Twinbook last Easter or Advent, and it sold out quickly among die-hard netcup fans.

I'm sure that the Twinbook is nice, but at 19,99 €, it's a little pricey. (Personally, I'd prefer to get a netcup mug, but I've not yet succeeded!)

juicy. 4 Epyc cores, 20Gb RAM, 640GB SSD... I actually waited for that one. now that it's in my cart I am hesitating again... damn. this one or wait for RS 2000 at ~11,xx ?

    Thanked by 1kalimov622
  • Do you need 20GB of RAM and 640GB of SSD?!
    RS 2000 @ 11€ looks better :P

  • @jabjab yeah, what should I say... "need" is a tough word. let's rather go with "want"

but I agree, looking at the same cores and nearly the same RAM, the 5€ les make the RS 2000 the better offer unless one can really utilize that. tempting still - "have" is also better than "need", I'd say...

Not sure, but if you can afford it and feel like you might need the extra resources at some point, why not. But it doesn't make much sense to have too much extra resources you won't have any use for.
