What are these different benchmark results on dedis?

I have seen everything from 3.5k to 3.7k even 3.8k.
Same CPU, I can replicate this on booth of my machines, CONSISTENTLY.

Same Kernel, same OS, less benchmark.
    Anyone care to explain?

I did not look at the CPU temp's yet.

    Look at this:

    Multi Core | 3734

    @kalimov622 said: CPU cores : 8 @ 1199.951 MHz

    Multi Core | 3543

Maybe @kalimov622 can try to change cpu policy and see if "overclocking" can improve your cpu benchmark?

Maybe some datacenters have better cooling? Who knows

The difference between Canada and France locations in terms of network speed is day and night as well.

That is why I am letting Canada location server go, while keeping the France location one

Any one interested in Canada Server,
I can transfer KS-LE to your Kimsufi US account for $20
    Intel Xeon E5-1620v2 4c/8t 3.7GHz
    32GB DDR3 ECC 1133MHz
    SoftRaid 2x2TB
    Monthly renewal $18

@ninzo59 any news for Canada network? I have a feeling it will soon unwanted location

Strange why a few people reported BHS has issues.

The network isn't bad and pretty solid except it comes with standard 100MBps upload and 1Gbps download for my KS-LE (BHS4).

It's quite cold on Mars, farther from our Sun. And the winter lasts 4 months.
    Almost as terribad as Montreal

  • Guess so... but from an electrical standpoint, a lower temperature is beneficial.

I'm near Canada, the cold certainly slows down the packets. Probably better upload speeds on Mars. :D

I'd kill for only 4 months of winter.

I finally managed to install my customized windows template on my dedi on BHS3. I have 1 GBps up/down on IPv4 and 1 Gbps up and 100Mbps down on IPv6. It's weird though, why only 100 MBps down on IPv6? Something wrong with my ethernet setup? Set it as full duplex?

Just curious, why you need a customized template. One can directly install windows iso (microsoft link). Or any other ISO for that matter.

  • It's my clean licensed copy of windows server. I can't directly install it on the server so I made an image and dd'd it to the KS-LE server. Just for the peace of mind of installing my own image rather than others or the provider's.

yes, it can be done. Any ISO can be installed.
I am not talking of using any third party template (that is a security risk). I am talking of installing directly from iso (for example windows server 2022)

    No it doesn't.
I think people use QEMU on rescue mode to install custom ISO. I've never done that though.

I got one also and running a few VMs on it already for friends.
The drives are terribad, didn't test the uptime but io wait goes to 60% when cloning VMs, for example. I did a custom install on only the first drive which is also faster and using second only for "cold" storage.
The network is good enough, I didn't expect anything like my home connection, but was happy with the 1 gbps download, I thought 100mbps is both ways, at least the ISOs i needed for VMs came fast, actually, the disks were the bottleneck, as I use the second, slower and, probably, almost failed, disk for ISOs and templates.
At this price I can't ask for more in the current environment, I am pretty sure they will increase prices soon or retire the line completely, it is unlikely to make sense now, let alone in the future.

Ask for a replacement if the disk is dead fucking slow.
KS never price hiked anything, except the DDoS upgrades.

It won't be long, I suppose, don't want to inflict it on someone else which might lose data.

They probably won't, unless it's a dead drive. For once I got a dead drive replaced with a much slower one, and their reason is the slower drive is at least working.

They probably won't, unless it's a dead drive. For once I got a dead drive replaced with a much slower one, and their reason is the slower drive is at least working.

    That too :P
All being said and done, I am happy with the performance for the price. The only grieving is the 100 mbps upload, most of my friends have better connections, but for 15 eur a month can't ask for more, 4 tb storage is more if live, as a block device, so I am solving many problems with one small fee.
I also did lock myself out a few times due to the weird IPv6 allocation and only one IPv4, but in the end I decided to keep the two on separate bridges so when I fail with one I can still go back without having to boot in rescue mode.

If anyone can publish a working howto to put ZFS with Proxmox 7 on that KS-LE, lemme know.
I just wasted 3 hours to get this bitch booting, but it refuses to boot.

Sadly, the Server does not have a IPMI.
