Go go Marius! I received my new IP and uptime was solid after that! Nice.

hopefully for us in bucharest loc with 45.x ips will be also stable :)

  • @ravenchad said: hopefully for us in bucharest loc with 45.x ips will be also stable

will be , the issue will be resolved.

  • I have to agree, since the IP change I have noticed a big improvement ..I'm not getting disconnected constantly ..just wish it had been this way the last few months.

    Either way ..Thank you

Yes, don't use openvpn. Use wireguard.

Awesome, thanks. I never even heard of wireguard. Set it up and my speed is 2-3 times faster.
I still don't understand why openVPN is so bad. Maybe I should have gone for atleast 512GB option. Is it true that buying the cheapest option also means that you are on the most congested server and likely have the worst performance? I've one vCore from E5-2450L 0 @ 1.80GHz

Then is it possible to move my VPS to a more decent machine? Others here are reporting E5-2680 v4. I've E5-2450L

Storage in Bucharest. Are all those E5-2450L based?

@kend said: I guess the CPU problem should be related to Proxmox's settings.

Maybe. The score looks similar every time. It's not like they are overselling the hardware.

What? A lower multi core score than single core on a multicore server would be the exact symptom of overselling. A sign CPU isn't oversubscribed when the multicore score is roughly a multiple of single core score.

Also, those are really, really low scores to begin with. It's definitely under sized for the load.

I am not thinking about overselling because every time I get almost the same benchmark results. If server is oversold, results definitely will not be the same everytime.

    See, that doesn't hold true.

If you're driving 30km/h to work everyday on a Highway that would be 80km/h if you didn't have traffic, it's irrelevant if 30km/s is consistent every single day.

They add another lane to the highway and you still can't do faster than 30km/h, something is fucked up.

Tl;dr you don't account for being limited to very low value.

  • I use sshfs to update the storage server and find that data transfer speeds from UK to Bucharest are around 30Kbps :'(

Upon checking I can 'see' in yabs
    AES-NI : Disabled

    Iperf3 readings seem fine.
Is this likely the problem and is it the same for others?

Hey @cociu will you finish today with changing 45.* ips to a new ips?
Just curios because got 3 vps from you and still waiting.. Thanks!!

Disk, single core performance increased. Multi core still not helping. @cociu

  • I'll share my 2 cents: so far, I'm very happy with cociu's hosting! I use it to mirror a large amount of data (~500 GB and growing). The combination of large bandwidth allowance, 1 TB storage and low price makes this perfect for what I use it for. So thanks :)
Uptime: 14 days. I think it was offline for a while during these 14 days, but my setup allows for my download to continue when it's online again so it didn't hurt.

  • 1 core= 2 core = 4 core = multicore ?

i know ist different CPU but an E5-2450l should hit around ~400 single-core
