Be patient :) Damien has shifted his operation more than 2,000 miles across country, got it installed in a new DC, with a new network and new support staff. There's bound to be a few hiccups in doing that. I think he's being smart in not opening new orders untill the dust has firmly settled :)

Network seems fine, still having trouble doing anything on the VPS due to memory issues though:

    sudo apt-get update
    FATAL -> Failed to fork.

I'm sure it'll get sorted but I was wondering if anyone else was having this issue.

  • @Satellite said: sudo apt-get update

Looks like you just plain ran out of memory.

What does "free -m" tell you?

That's the thing, though: this setup was working just fine before the move, and htop and free -m show nothing out of the ordinary, which leads me to believe it's the node itself that's running out of memory.

    Mem: 64 36 27 0 0 20
    -/+ buffers/cache: 16 47

Even trying to stop processes via /etc/init.d/nginx or /etc/init.d/mysql throws up memory errors.

He may have contacted us and asked to be switched to burst instead of vswap, which would cause him to have 64mb of ram in free -m.

Update: OS templates are almost fixed. Waiting for them to finish syncing to the nodes.

This email is going out now:

    All,

OS templates are now available for your use. If you attempted to reinstall your OS since we came back up, please try again, and your VPS should work properly now.

    I updated our template distribution:

    -Fedora 15 no longer available.

    These templates are now available:

    -Fedora 16 32 & 64-bit

    -openSUSE 12.1 32 & 64-bit

    -Scientific Linux 6 32 & 64-bit

    -altlinux 6.0 32 & 64-bit

    -Centos 5 with Centreon/Nagios pre-installed. (thanks to @mitgib!)

    -Centos 5 with PBX-in-a-Flash pre-installed (NOT FOR LOW-END VPS!)

Please open a support ticket if you encounter any issues. Thanks.

Yep, I did submit a ticket to switch vSwap to burst.

I'm on sapphire. I don't get it, if I have plenty of free RAM and the node has plenty of free RAM, and everything was working fine before the move, what could be the problem?

@sleddog: apt-get update works fine when I run as root. Can you try doing apt-get upgrade and see if you get an error? I get an error on apt-get upgrade as root.

I wouldn't recommend that with less than 256mb

    [tim@centreon ~]$ free -m
total used free shared buffers cached
    Mem: 256 231 24 0 0 0
    -/+ buffers/cache: 231 24
    Swap: 0 0 0

Wait, so we aren't keeping the 1000Mbps connection?!

Also, why no Debian 6 i386 template? Surely that's what most people here would be using!

I think Damian listed only the new/updated templates. Debian 6 32bit is available.

    @Damian

Hey, you sent a new mail containing the new IP addresses, but it says:

"Your new IP should begin with 184. If it begins with 68"

    And the IP's start with 198 o_O

They all start with 198.144, it was a typo

Order control is now off; anyone is free to order services.

  • I went to sleep right after I sent out that email.

  • Hope you guys get a bunch of orders, well deserved for handling a challenging situation well.

  • Job welldone @Damian & @phxadam,

Each time I've been on support chat, Damian has been an absolute star.

I do think, that we should all go visit their DC and hug the servers. Just because, "most" of us have our 32MB servers back online!

  • NickkNickk Member

    Bought a 32MB. Thanks @Damian !
