Is there anyone running Tor on those little boxes?

Yeah, I understand the U2250 is pretty slow, but I was just wondering if we can get a few tens of megabits out of it.

@linuxthefish is running one I believe.

My two servers are currently seeding torrents and are using a fair amount of data transfer.

I run one :) Currently I use ~45Mbit/s. I wonder if this is the maximum because of the
CPU or it is because my relay is not that old.

I'm running one and my advertised bandwidth is also 5mbps+, but I believe this is due to how TOR is designed, after the node stop becomes a guard node then the bandwidth usage should be higher

Thanks, guys. Looks like around 50 mbps could be the limit for Tor on this CPU. Better than I expected, by the way.

@trexos you can check the load avg, but I suppose you are getting the core fully loaded already.

The bootneck in Tor is usually CPU, not bandwidth :)

  • Mine is 5,80MB/s

it should be that your relay is not so old, because I'm running tor solely on that node and my load avg is 0.40+ and tor only uses 20 - 40% usually with some peak at 100%

my node is almost 2 months old so probably I'll get to see more bandwidth usage once it passes through that period

    Mine is 5.87 MB/s

Yep, but very slow compared to my OVH VPS, used to be 18MB/s now gone to 5MB/s.

Tor works fine here, but its limited it to 5MB/s

  • I'm having the same issue with kimsufi, so OVH capped it as well?

  • I have windows 2012 installed on mine but the hdd is only like 40gb instead of the full size.

Any idea how I can set the partition to utilize the full drive?

It's quite easy to do if you google it

Just need something like partition magic to maximize the partition?

You can do it using windows no need to install anything, windows disk management or whatever it's called

Let me resize it to 80gb. Can't remember what size drives the offer came with.

  • Can I buy now ? Why is the Page not found ? 404 error ?

    Win + R -> diskmgmt.msc

I've just set it to 80gb which must be the size of the entire disk.

  • To come back to the TOR thing:
My highest bandwidth usage was 490GB/day. I think this is the maximum this little thing can handle:

     # day rx | tx | total | avg. rate
       -----------------------------+-------------+-------------+---------------
        1 09/29/14 240.06 GiB | 250.30 GiB | 490.36 GiB | 47.61 Mbit/s

Personally I am not running Tor on these. I feel that at 2 EUR/mo, going out of your way to utilize your bandwidth 24x7 with what is basically junk traffic, would not be a reasonable or polite thing to do.

  • I have windows server on this server. I can use remote desktop on the server before but now I can't access it. I tried reboot many times but so far still can't access it. Anyone has this problem?

@rm_ nah, only 15-25% of the Costumers are using the 1Gbit and burning TB's of Data, so at the end its okay. I dont need to go to sleep with bad dreams. There was some statistics how many costumers are really using there resources and its quite low. Otherwise LEB would not work when you selling 512MB for 5$ per Year and everyone would use there 0,5GB.

That doesn't seem to be the case from what I am seeing with regard to upload speeds. Their network is already very overloaded in places. On some servers the upload speed is up to 5-10x worse than on others.
